Welcome to YURNGA, aboriginal for "Big View".
It is stunning, and secluded, with surround (bird) sound.
"the skies open above you, and the areas open around you"
D.H.Lawrence could have been referring to my Retreat!
Yurnga is a secluded Mountain Retreat, architect designed, located in a rain forest setting with a big view overlooking the Gold Coast. The house sits on a huge 3 acre block, complete with its' own rain forest and rolling green pastures. Share you breakfast with a kookaburra. sometimes they take up pole position on the verandah.
You will never see our resident whip bird, but he certainly makes his presence felt.
(MID WEEK SPECIALS ARE AVAILABLE MONDAY TO THURSDAY NIGHTS.)
A complimentary bottle of wine awaits you on arrival, and tea and coffee is there for you to sample.
You will be provided with a "Tamborine Pack", listing all the attractions on the Mountain- a map of the area, and a foodies guide (as recommended by SBS).
Free Austar movies are there for you to enjoy, and 8 sport's channels.
The Retreat is your own private sanctuary. The check in check out times can be quite flexible, as you liaise with the owner.
(This is not a venue that caters for weddings.)

Tamborine Mountain is part of the Scenic Rim.
It boasts a tropical hinterland that must be experienced to be believed.
Everywhere you turn you will see mountains.
Australia's most accessible World Heritage-listed rainforests are spread throughout the 8 National Parks of the Scenic Rim. The natural landscape is stunning!
There is much to do and see:
The Tamborine Rainforest Sky Walk puts you in the canopy with the wildlife
.The Sky Walk & the Glow Worm Caves are the 2 most popular sites on the Mountain.
Off the Mountain, 30 minutes drive away, conveniently located on the M1 motorway, are 2 Fun Parks.
Wet & Wild. The new corkscrew water slide sends riders on rafts through an enclosed tube at speeds of up to 30 kmph. It is claimed to be the highest banking tubes in the world.!!
Dreamworld, also located on the M1 motorway is home to the Sumatran Tigers. they star in this headline act in 30 hectare fun park. Given their dwindling numbers, this is a memorable experience.
If you are a daredevil, you can hitch a ride with a local hang glider, or you can be an onlooker. Meander down Gallery Walk, a run of intriguing shops, restaurants, art galleries.
If food and wine are more to your taste, visit the Cheese Factory, or The Belgian Chocolate Shop, or the boutique breweries and distilleries
There are locally grown organic veggies, native flowers or a coffee on offer in the local area.
A vegetable garden akin to Mr. MacGregor's Garden has just opened opposite St., Bernard's School , from 7.30-9.30 (Sun, Tues & Thurs). Purple cauliflowers, heirloom tomatoes, herbs for sale.Just visiting the " patch" is an experience!
Stay for 2 days and you will feel like you have been on holiday for a week. A truly blissful experience.
One guest has decided to write a book on site given the tranquility of the location.

* 40 minutes from the Gold Coast.
* 60 minutes from Brisbane city
* 60 minutes from Coolangatta airport

"What a fantastic time we have had here @ the Retreat.. To wake up and have a breathtaking view towards the Coast, across the lush green mountains while sipping your cuppa- no cares or worries- the world can pass vy quietly- I didn't notice. the nights are great- peaceful and dark. for a person who works 7 days/ week, I have been totally relaxed- done nothing except enjoy my " Retreat", and all that Tamborine can offer."

We booked the house and unit for our family myself husband our son daughter in law and 5 adults 3girls and 2 boys age 16 -21 and it was perfect for us the house is very comfortable and the first night was quite cold so the boys lit the fire we loved it and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to stay on the mountain.0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
WOW is the first impression at seeing this architectual wonder. So many unique touches to this house and the view is second to none. It is an exciting place to stay. The owners were very accommodating and had no problem with us extending our stay by another night - YES this house was that good!0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
The Retreat is very welcoming with flowers and wine on the table to greet us. 8 friends on a weekend away. Relaxing looking at the views in the morning with breakfast or with a glass of wine in the evening, just what we all need to do.The Retreat catered for us with the Bunk house. Bathrooms and kitchen are modern and with each up-grade that Trish makes this Retreat will be outstanding. Love the layout of the house and gardens. Thankyou Trish we hope to come again.Red Wine Club :-)0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
A beautiful property in a wonderful location. The main bedroom suite was superb, but other 3 bedroom beds not as good..soft and short. Some kitchen utensils need replacing. No boxes of tissues or spare toilet rolls is expected for this rental price bracket.A great place to spend my 70th birthday with my adult children, but a little attention to detail would be appreciated. Thankyou.0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.

Absolutely fabulous accommodation! In a superb, private location, it is just as described with divine views day and night. One could be forgiven for staying put and just soaking up the luxury but... National Park bush walks, markets, gardens, nurseries, galleries, wineries, distilleries, restaurants, cafes, classic pubs, antique shops and more are all temptingly close at hand. So much to do and experience. Trish made us feel very welcome also. It was hard to leave and we are looking forward to a return visit.0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
Took 3 mothers (my wife, my mother, and mother-in-law) to the retreat for Mothers day weekend. The layout of the property ensures relaxation from the moemnt you past the front gates.Fireplace at night added ambience and having breakfast in the morning sun on the veranda looking out to the coast was magic. It was a perfect choice that resulted in a perfect weekend. Note: Markets are on every 2nd Sunday of the month and were a huge hit for the plant loving mothers0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
