The Escarpment Retreat and Day Spa is an international award winning mountain rainforest sanctuary perched on top of Mt Tamborine. Set on four acres of botanical gardens and lush rainforest, complete with flowing stream, small waterfall and cliff views at the rear of the property through the surrounding valleys as far as the Gold Coast and beyond.

Featuring romantic chalet style villas in a garden setting with a Balinese flavour, plus a family house complemented by a dedicated Spa Pavilion, private Gold Class Cinema and a spectacular tree house common room in the rainforest.

Upon arrival (if during office hours), we provide welcoming glasses of complimentary champagne and chocolates. Your villa features 5 metre high ceilings, sandstone walls, cedar floors, a sunken lounge room with a wood fireplace, private balcony, king size four poster canopy bed, granite kitchenette, and a generous bathroom, complete with a large separate shower box plus a decadent double spa bath ideal for that reviving romantic bubble bath.

After a divine sleep, awake refreshed and enjoy a sumptuous complimentary gourmet homemade breakfast in our dining room. Indulge in the complimentary cuisine including a range of juices, cereals, breads/toasts, condiments, fruit, yoghurt and a choice of four mains. Lastly, we offer smooth Arabica locally grown organic coffee freshly brewed and a selection of fine teas to complete your morning breakfast fare.

Free wi-fi is provided throughout all of the villas

In addition to our villas, we have a newly renovated Edge House perched on a cliff with views as far as the coast and provide accommodation for up to 6 people in 3 bedrooms. It is designed for self catering, featuring two viewing platforms, fully equipped kitchen, log fireplaces, spa bath, 2 bathrooms, open plan dining and living rooms, and luxury appointments.

Enjoy dinner at one of the numerous nearby restaurants. If you would prefer, we also offer a delicious 2 course dinner for two delivered direct to your front door in clay tagines, available daily. Bookings in advance are essential.

Our award winning Day Spa offers a range of rejuvenating options including aromatherapy, hot stone, salt glow, deep tissue massage , indulgent and relaxing facial, massage package and couples massages. As our therapists are very busy, bookings in advance are essential.

Put your feet up in our Gold Class Cinema enjoying champagne and chocolates whilst watching a classic movie.

As you can see, one night is certainly not enough! We recommend a minimum of two to three nights to allow time to explore the local nearby mountain attractions including many truly captivating rainforest walks, 6 wineries, art galleries, antique & bric-a-brac shops, cafes & restaurants, two breweries, organic coffee plantation, rainforest canopy walk and a cheese factory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mount Tambourine is a magical place - like entering another world - andDarren and the crew at The Escarpment made our visit a memorable one. From the initial phone call to checkout, nothing was too much trouble, and the attention to detail was good to see. In fact, the spirit ofcooperation among hospitality businesses in Mount Tambourine generallyseems to be alive and well, with referrals to other businesses beinggiven freely and genuinely. As The Escarpment does not currently have arestaurant (although they are seeking approvals to do so), Darren wasspot on with his suggestions for other dining options. There are six lodges (in three pairs), with high ceilings, and extensiveuse of timber throughout. Ours also included a good sized spa bath(which fitted two comfortably) overlooking a private courtyard (whichensured privacy), a massive four-poster bed, and a small balcony ordeck. Given the sub-tropical climate, most views open out onto gardenswhich contain masses of ferns and thin, tall trees. The Escarpment also offers a range of spa treatments. I treated myselfand my partner to a full body massage (the 'signature massage'), and themasseuses were thorough and sensitive. In some respects, it was the 'little things' that made The Escarpmentstand out, in terms of the fit-out of the lodges, the layout of theresort itself, and the service we received was superlative. Our stay wasa special one, and we hope to return.
