Moreton Island, one of natures undisturbed wonders, is a 17000 ha naturally formed sand island situated in the Moreton Bay Marine Park 35km from Brisbane, Australia. Approx 95% of Moreton Island is National Park and it is home to a diverse range of wildlife and vegetation as well as being very popular destination for nature based recreational pursuits.

Like other sand islands in south-east Queensland, Moreton Island was formed as a result of sand movements caused by winds and waves and sea level change over thousands of years. The island is approximately 38km long and 10km at its widest point and appears to this day much the same as it did thousands of years ago.

Moreton?s ocean beach stretches over 40km long and with the untouched white sandy beach, coastal dunes and crystal clear blue water; it is one of the most scenic places on the island. The waters and many reefs surrounding Moreton Island are always clean, and usually crystal clear. This clear water allows visitors to experience the spectacular array of sea life that uses the islands coastline as their playground.

From the Cape Moreton lighthouse you can spot dolphins, whales (in season), manta rays, dugongs, turtles and numerous types of fish swimming in this natural, crystal clear paradise. Swimmers can enjoy a dip from any of the beaches, but Honeymoon bay or the western beaches are favourite sheltered spots to enjoy the waters.

Moreton Island is also home to some of the most beautiful freshwater lakes, coloured sands, rugged cliffs, sand hills and also the largest sand dune in the world, Mt Tempest. An untouched paradise, Moreton Island is the perfect destination for a holiday, weekend getaway or one-day island adventure.

As Moreton Island is all sand and the tracks are all sand, the only vehicles that can operate on the Island are 4WD.

The "MiCat" is the only vehicle Ferry operating between Brisbane and Moreton Island so early bookings are essential. The "MiCat" departs from 14 Howard Smith Drive, Lytton at the Port of Brisbane and lands at the Tangalooma Wrecks on the western side of the Island.
On Tuesdays the "MiCat" lands at the Bulwer Wrecks at the northern end of the Island.

If you will not be bringing a 4WD vehicle to the Island you will need to catch the Tangalooma Passenger Launch which departs from Holt Street Wharf, Pinkenba and travels to the Tangalooma Resort Jetty at least twice daily. Adult return fares are currently $75 and children aged 3 to 14 years inclusive are $40 return. Bookings are essential.

The Resort mini bus can be booked to take your guests and luggage from the Jetty to your Tangalooma Hilltop House accommodation. The driver is to be paid $15 cash at the time of the trip. The charge is per trip and not per person. Please let the Agent know if you will require a mini bus transfer if you are arriving on the Tangalooma passenger launch and you will be sent details of how to book the mini bus transfer for your arrival and departure. PLEASE NOTE: The Resort Mini Bus does not collect guests from the MiCat Ferry Landing Point ? only the Resort Jetty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We stayed at 10 Coign for the New Year and could not fault the house and it's access and surroundings to the resort. Whist the house was included in the resort facilities it was peaceful and isolated from the traffic that a resort attracts. The house allowed easy access to all roads and the beach. We had two families in the house and were able to maintain our own privacy as well as mix when we chose to. A fantastic relaxing holiday. A luxurious house, with beach front access that offers all amenities that are required. Would have no hesitation in recommending this delightful spacious accommodation as well as Moreton Island which is a paradise.
