Perfectly positioned on Lighthouse hill to capture magnificent views and breezes, this townhouse sleeps 4 comfortably with a maximum of 6. The units soft furnishings have recently been upgraded to give place a more beachy feel. The middle level has a master bedroom with queen bed and a second bedroom with 2 singles that can zip together to become a king. The top floor with stunning views has a very good quality double sofa bed that can sleep an extra 2, plus an elevated daybed to capture the expansive southerly view of main beach. (Please note the double sofa bed is really only suitable for 2 children or one adult). The ground floor kitchen and dining opens out to an entertaining deck and there is a claw foot bath in the bathroom to soak away the salt at the end of the day. There is a little chiminea outdoor fire on the back deck to take the chill out of winter nights and for roasting marshmallows. Lighthouse Hill is very close to the beach, shops and cafe, so you can throw the car keys out the window, mind you watch where they land for when you leave.

Kitchen has microwave, electric oven and gas cook top. Lounge TV / DVD. BBQ on deck. Washing machine. Bose ipod dock sound system.

The unit is over three levels with a spiral staircase and not really suitable for small children or elderly people with mobility issues. Linen is an additional $17.00 per person per stay.

Stradbroke Vehicle Ferries depart nearly every hour from Cleveland and take about 50 minutes to get to the island.

Within close walking distance of the unit are some great cafes and restaurants including 'The Look Restaurant and Cafe', Fishes Cafe, The Stradbroke Island Hotel and Spa and the Oceanic Gelateria. Round the corner is also the Surf Club which is open for drinks on the weekend, it has spectacular views and sometimes features local musicians. A great fresh seafood shop and organic deli with delicious fruit and vegies, cheeses and breads is also within a few hundred meters of the unit, plus there is a little foodworks, baker and chemist a bit further away.

There's lots to do on the island including beach yoga at Home beach, spot whales along the North Gorge walk, play golf, dive with Sharks Mantas and Turtles at Flat Rock, explore the freshwater lakes Brown Lake (Bummeira) and Blue Lake (Karboora). Visit the historic village of Dunwich with it's museum and second oldest cemetery in Queensland and the quaint seaside town of Amity with it's fresh seafood and calm swimming enclosure for children.

Or you can just curl up with a book on the top floor of number 1 Lighthouse Hill and watch the surf.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic views We had 2 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet location. Getting our suitcases up the rough dirt road was not ideal for us and the street numbers were not evident initially. My large suitcase could not be taken up the narrow spiral staircase. Unfortunately the surf beach nearby was closed. These minor drawbacks did not however detract from the overall experience. We loved the restaurants and the ease of public transport from Brisbane, the coastal walk and the whales which we saw! The house was warm and clean with stunning views. Thanks Lucy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice property We enjoyed our two night stay here. It was clean, well furnished and very well situated, with amazing views and a lovely arrangement of rooms. However it would have been nice to have had a toilet roll in place on arrival (we had to go out specially to buy one) and a bar of soap in the bathroom. A number of light bulbs had blown also which was inconvenient. Consideration of people paying to stay in the property is well worthwhile!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The views, the views! We had a lovely two week stay in February, with the island feeling almost to ourselves. A great spot to unwind. The unit was very clean, very neat, with kitchen and bathroom that was newly refurbished. The views from all levels are wonderful, but the top floor was magical - most days after a swim we would perch ourselves in one of the comfortable chairs with the paper or book and enjoy the views over the Gorge or down Main Beach.The owner had left a bottle of champers and a delicious basket of fruit - both were enjoyed. Spiral staircase was fun after getting used to it. Beach and restaurants within easy drive (a minute or two if you don't want to walk). Hope to be back again soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spectaular location! We had a great 3-night stay at Lighthouse Hill. This is a lovely unit, with arguably the best eastern and southern views on the island. We were a little taken aback at how tight the spiral staircase was, but soon got used to it. It is an older style unit, but refurbished and very comfortable. Happy to recommend this townhouse to anyone able to negotiate the stairs! The owner was very friendly and helpful also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great location! This was a great place to stay. Location was perfect, no need to drive as it is so close to the shops, the surf club, the gorge walk. And the views! Main beach or the Point depending what window you look through. Will definitely stay here again.
