Description

Situated on Yabba Creek at Imbil in South East Queensland just 95 minute's drive north from Brisbane, Imbil Bridge Farm can be an adventure getaway or a relaxing escape to the country.

The 30 acre property is centred around the 1920s Queenslander farm house which has been elegantly restored and features a classic lounge-dining area with wood fireplace opening onto an alfresco creek-front verandah. The home is air conditioned for both cooling and heating.

Quietly sitting on the verandah reveals platypus, turtles, saratoga fish, and a variety of water birds in an ever changing show of wildlife. The three bedrooms (a queen with ensuite, a queen and two singles) each open onto a second sweeping verandah and have views of the property and the creek.

The best thing

Downstream of the farm house the creek is held back by a natural waterfall and weir providing a constant deep water level for kayaking, swimming and fishing directly accessible down stairs from the house.

Upstream is Lake Borumba which is stocked with bass, perch and saratoga and is also popular for water skiing.

The next best thing

The next best thing about a visit to Imbil Bridge Farm is its close proximity to the charming village of Imbil just a short walk across the town bridge.

The village is the hub of the beautiful Mary River Valley and has an historic hotel, cafes, general store and most facilities.

Play golf at nearby Koolewong Par3 Golf Course. There is also a free nine hole par three golf course right in town with the first tee at the railway station. Just go to the first tee and hit off.

Imbil Bridge Farm is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Best Getaway Experience As soon as I stepped out of the car and walked around the house, I knew we had found our perfect spot to exhale and regenerate the batteries. Finding a dog friendly place that was safe and private was a task in itself. Yet to find one that also came with a picturesque river beside it including a 2 x man canoe was amazing. The deck looks out over the river and the western verandah looks out over the cow paddocks. This was our spot to drink some red and watch the sun set. I couldn't help wanting to jump out of bed each morning after the best sleep I've had in a long time and watch the mist that envelopes the valley rise as the suns strength deepens. The colours changing over the landscape throughout the day will bring out the artist even in folks like me who are more autistic than artistic. So take a good camera. We spent the evenings playing trivial pursuit after eating Clint the butchers amazing steaks, you have to try his bacon, it will give the Canadians a run for their money. Which of course was best served each morning with the chooks eggs freshly laid that morning. The beds are nice and firm, the showers are perfect and relaxing to the tunes from the cd collection was right up our alley. Sue and John also have a great collection of DVDs. There is so much to do there that we had to put off the many walks, rides and golf for our next trip , which we booked as soon as we got home. At Imbil station there is a free par 3 course that literally begins at the station. There is also a lovely local course too. For a human being to truely relax, I believe they need to be surrounded by nature and animals and eat great food...this is the place so stop getting square eyes looking further and just book it! Oh and the oven is fabulous. If you have kids leave the devices at home. This place will amuse and relax anyone with a pulse. Like us your only issue will be that you can't stay long enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect holiday for family with teens The house was just perfectly appointed, wonderful outlook over the river and plenty to keep the 3 teenagers occupied - canoeing, chickens, patting horses, walking into town, looking for platypus. We all went canoeing up & down the river - including our dog. It was great that the dog could come albeit outside on the verandah, but there was plenty of shelter for her.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flooded in as a result of the Australia day floods, lost power and water, and more....but we had a wonderful, memorable weekend regardless. Fell in love with property as soon as we arrived and can't wait to get back again when the sun is shining. Kids were off in the canoe immediately and we rarely saw them. Didn't get to put our boat in the dam for a ski so we it's a priority to get back. Thanks Jim & Sue

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can throughly recommend a stay at Imbil Bridge Farm. The photos can't do justice to the tranquil sound of the water trickling over the weir, the soft clucking of the hens and the sounds of cattle and horses out in the yards.Amazing to be able to watch platypus from your back deck, feed the cows and horses, collect fresh eggs from the hens every morning, canoe down the tranquil river or just laze around and recharge in a classic old farmhouse. And only a couple of hours from Brisbane. The kids and wife demand that we return as soon as possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend this break in the country. Perfect spot to recharge and recuperate. What a stunning setting, gorgeous home from home, with opportunity to do as much or as little as you want. Seeing platypus was a thrill. Fresh eggs for breakfast a treat. Thank you Jim and Sue.... we will be back soon.
