Parkwood B&B is located in the hills behind Cannonvale / Airlie Beach overlooking Marina and Coral Sea and only 3km from the centre of Airlie Beach.
Looking at the Whitsundays' cliffs and steep hillsides, it's not difficult to imagine them as the tips of a drowned mountain range. The many islands are the remains of a coastal range which was submerged when the sea level rose at the end of the last Ice Age. These peaks form the largest offshore island chain on the east coast of Australia. For the visitors it means island dream holidays. Recreational opportunities are numerous with beautiful sandy beaches. extensive fringing reef and magnificent scenery. And The Great Barrier Reef - a bit more outside - is one of the most beautiful gift Australia offers to the world.

Wonderful, relaxing, homely
The most wonderful, gracious and generous hosts. We stayed for 5 nights in the apartment on our honeymoon, as we wanted something a little different from the standard hotel/motel experience. The pool and the gardens are beautiful and well maintained. It's obvious this place is a real passion for its owners.
Being from Hobart, my husband and I did struggle a bit without air conditioning, as the breeze dropped off in the evenings and it was a particularly hot and humid January. The ceiling fans were good but worked best with a bit of a breeze, however we were fully aware of the facilities when we booked. The pool made for a great, relaxing way to cool off in the evenings, and we pretty much had it to ourselves. Much nicer than an over-used and over-chlorinated hotel pool.
Everything was immaculately clean, and the small touches really made the place feel homely. All necessary items are there – pots and pans, hairdryer, lamps in all the right places for quiet evenings reading. My husband and I commented several times that it felt like staying at a really nice family shack with a long-lost Aunt and Uncle, where everything's familiar and you feel really at home. Each day when we came back everything had been cleaned and sheets tidied/changed,which impressed us greatly. Ursula even offered to wash our beach towels for us!
The view was lovely, you can see the water and some of the islands from the deck, and the lush tropical plants make the place feel very exotic, especially the way the garden comes right up to the pool.
George and Ursula gave us plenty of privacy and did not interrupt us at any time, but were there when we needed them, and to provide the most delicious spreads for breakfast! Being gluten intolerant, I especially appreciated the effort Ursula went to in providing something I could eat each morning. A great way to start the day! Oh and really, really good coffee.
I would highly recommend this property for anyone, the apartment is great if you are looking for a great value place to stay in the Whitsunday coast area as a base for exploring. It has all the amenities to look after yourself if you don't want to have to buy all your meals out, and want to be away from the "backpacker" culture of Airlie Beach. We only had a hire car for one day to explore the surrounding area (which is really worth doing), as we thought we'd "just walk" to and from the bus stop to get in and out of Airlie Beach, but the oppressive humidity just wasn't conducive to this, so I'd highly recommend having a car, as Parkwood is beyond practical walking distance of anything in Airlie Beach. Shopping centre at Cannonvale is 15 mins walk down the road though, and a decent looking family bistro. Plenty there for supplies if you don't feel like going far.

This was our best accomodation on our Australia Tour 2012. Thank you Ursula and George for a wonderful stay at your home. We got a very good breakfast served on the terrace until two wallabies were visiting us. The accomodation was very clean and tasteful furnished. The lookout over the green rainforest and the garden until the ocean was fantastic. Greetings from Germany!

We stayed at this B&B for 5 nights and were very pleased with the beauty of the place and service. Ursula and George did their best to make our stay unforgettable. We would love to come back to Airlie Beach and stay at the same place again.
