How to get here? You can Drive, Fly, Sail, Bus it or Train it, about the only way you can not get here is by Direct International Flight... but that might just change in the future. Driving - Airlie Beach is located about 20 Km's east of Proserpine which is located on Bruce Highway 1094 km's north of Brisbane or 614 km's south of Cairns. Flying - Both Virgin Blue and Jet Star fly into the Whitsunday Coast Airport (About 35 minutes from Airlie Beach). Bus it - If you really want to, then contact any of the leading bus companies as they all pick up and drop off daily in Airlie Beach Train it - The 'New' Tilt Train, which runs from Brisbane to Proserpine, is a new and different way to travel to the Whitsunday’s. Climate Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday’s enjoys a subtropical climate and is located approximately on the same latitude as Rio De Janeiro, Mauritius, Tahiti and New Caledonia. If you like cold weather then DON'T come to the Whitsunday’s! The Whitsunday’s has arguably the best climate in Australia. When its 40 degrees in Melbourne during Summer, we have a beautiful 30 degree day (30 degrees is about the average temperature for Summer), without the over bearing humidity you find further north. When winter comes around and the heaters and woolly jumpers come out down south, Airlie Beach is enjoying PERFECT winters days, with an average winter temperature of approximately 23 degrees.
