Stunning and uninterrupted wide-sweeping views across native bushland and Investigator Strait, Kangaview offers you a relaxing, private fully self contained home. See our own Kangaview site for more pictures and special offers.
From every room you look out onto gum trees and woodland vistas with resident Wallabies, Koalas, Echidna, and blue (superb) Fairy Wrens going about their daily business. In fact for most guests sitting on the deck with a glass of wine in hand, reading a book or taking in the views is the most popular activity.
The covered outdoor entertaining deck offers a excellent dining experience with fully equipped gas BBQ for those beautiful summer evenings and amazing star gazing.
If you think that ?holiday? and ?cooking? and two words that don?t belong together, then try out one of the local restaurants instead! As well as the friendly local pub at Parndana, there is a café at the beach, and just around the corner a restaurant looking out across the Bay. Failing that there is a company that can deliver freshly made meals to your door, made using the best of local Kangaroo Island produce! (note some eating venues are seasonal)
Kangaview is home away from home, with a fully self contained kitchen and laundry, 2 large queen size bedrooms, a bunk-bed room for 2 and a double sofa bed in the lounge. All linen is provided; you only need to bring your food, wine, and friends or family!
The lounge is equipped with TV, DVD/VCR, CD and iPod stereo dock as well as a selection of books, DVD films, games and magazines.
Full washing, drying and ironing facilities are provided. The kitchen offers a large fridge freezer. Externally there is a fish cleaning station.
KANGAVIEW comfortably sleeps 8.
READ WHAT OUR GUESTS HAVE SAID ABOUT KANGAVIEW:
What a fantastic home away from home. We bought half our kitchen (food) and were happy we did as this kitchen was so well equipped! We love the little 1% touches of the videos and chess/backgammon set. The fire was homely. There was so much to do and we are most certainly going to have to come back to do the rest!!

Kangaroo Island is great! Landscapes are amazing, nothing like this in France. Your house is really quiet. We are so luck to find this place. Thank you.
We are truly enjoying our stay here, the house is lovely. Being 8 people from 6 different countries, we are perfect tourists and we are trying to make the most of this beautiful island!!

Kangaview provides a spacious and comfortable space with a marvelous view which we found a perfect base for exploring the island. The owners have gone to great effort to make sure every last detail is attended to. The house is attractive and family friendly - no easy task! The surrounding bush is beautiful and the local beach is great for rock-pooling or for swimming depending on the weather. Kangaroo Island is unique place and I'd definitely recommend Kangaview as a great place to stay.

We had a great time, the beds were great and Stokes Bay is the best beach. We found a cavern in the rocks, we played monopoly lots.

No traffic to worry about. Kids could wander around looking under rocks for bugs and lizards - this was a real highlight for our boys. Good facilities for a family. Lots of indoor activities provided, DVD's, games etc. It was warm, quiet and relaxing.

We had a lovely time. The house is spacious and comfortable and the views glorious. We saw lots of wallabies and kangaroos and hear some glossy black cockatoos. We had a good feed of Mullet from Snellings and beautiful figs from ?the magic fig tree? ? beautiful with goats cheese and KI honey!! It was a great place to spend Easter.

We wished to stay longer! Great Australian experience! We enjoyed the remoteness on one side but with all the comfort on the other side. One day we will come back

Kangaview everything we were after- seclusion, peace and tranquility. Enjoyed the games and reconnecting with family away from the pressures of work and school. We did all of the touristy things including Quad bikes and sand surfing, saw lots of wildlife including 2 baby snakes on the beach which was a bit freaky and absolutely loved the fishing-rock cod seem to just jump on the hook. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful home. Our whole week has been perfect!

The house was lovely, with everything we needed and in a great location. Great place to escape from the pace of life and just enjoy some peace and quiet. If you want to get away from mobile phone reception and really escape work (unless you have NextG) it's perfect! Had wallabies around most mornings and evenings. Would definitely recommend an evening meal at the Stokes Bay Bar and Grill.

Coming to see the wildlife? Let the wildlife come to you! Koalas, Echidnas, Wallabies, Birds, Glossy Black Cockatoo, Wedge Tail Eagles
Seeing the Kangaroo Island native birds and animals in their own beautiful environment is one of the special things you will do during your stay.
Kangaroos, Wallabies and Echidnas will often be spotted around Kangaview, particularly in the morning and at dusk when they come out to feed. If you look closely you will usually find a Koala asleep in a gum tree, particularly in Lathami National Park which Kangaview is adjacent to.
Birds too are plentiful ? from the deck you can keep an eye out for families of blue Wrens (Superb Fairy Wren) hopping in and out of the bushes. Robins, Lorikeets and Rosella are commonly seen, as are the majestic Wedge Tail Eagles which are always soaring around overhead. See our own Kangaview site for a listing of some of the birds that have been seen.
Lathami National Park opposite the entrance to Kangaview can offer a glimpse of the rare and endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo. The park is about 1,500 ha in size, and the native vegetation is an important feeding and breeding area for these birds.
Local Attractions and Things to Do - swimming, fishing, boating, diving, walking, golf, fish and chips on the beach, explore rock pools
Kangaview is only 3 minutes from beautiful Stokes Bay, arguably the best sandy beach on the island, and DEFINITELY the best fish and chips (as well as other gourmet offerings) from the Rockpool Café. Spending a day swimming fishing or surfing on the long sandy beach, wandering over to the Café for a fish and chips lunch followed by a relaxing afternoon by the water is surely one of the best ways to spend a holiday.
Stokes Bay has a hidden tunnel which the kids will love ? after making your way down a narrow rocky pathway between huge boulders and cliffs, you finally descend through the tunnel and the long sandy expanses and blue waters of the ?secret? beach opens out in front of you ? a never to be forgotten sight.
SURFING - Suitable for beginners through to advanced surfers, Stokes Bay has reef and beach breaks depending on the size of the swell. The best winds for surfing at Stokes are southerly, unlike the south coast which is best on northerly winds. When there are waves, Stokes Bay can turn it on as good as any south coast break.
Paste this link to get further information about surfing on KI. There is a link on this page where you can download the surfing guide to Kangaroo Island
Further down the road is the picturesque King George Beach, a sheltered cove with fantastic snorkeling and fishing opportunities around the rocks, and plenty of rock pools for the kids to explore. Walk to the corner of the pebble beach and check out the view around the corner looking down the coast - spectacular!
Stokes Bay is the perfect base for exploring Kangaroo Island. Located next-door to Lathami National Park and the amazing Stokes Bay Bush Gardens.
Kangaview is centrally located for easy access to both ends of the island. Easy to get to from the Airport, Kingscote or Penneshaw, you are also well situated to visit the Western end of the island and the famous Flinders Chase National Park, or the South Coast attractions of Seal Bay, Remarkable Rocks and Vivonne Bay.
There is great fishing to be had on your doorstep, including a boat ramp for those lucky enough to be bringing their own boat! Widely regarded as one of the best fishing spots on the island, Snapper Mullet, Whiting and squid can often be bought back for the evening meal. There is a fish cleaning station and also boat storage if you want to keep the boat dry!
Bring the golf clubs - KI has four golf courses the closest being at Parndarna so if the fish aren?t biting grab the clubs and enjoy the scenery of Kangaroo Island as you sink a few Birdies. The course is an 18 hole, Par 70, 5199M facility.
Kangaroo Island has 50 vineyards and 15 wineries, so if wine is your thing, take a drive and enjoy the sampling! Some of the nicest Kangaroo Island wines are grown and produced on the doorstep - Dudley Wines is a family run business producing a 100% Kangaroo Island product. Although they don?t have a cellar door you can try a drop at the Parndarna Hotel. Also check out The Islander Estate Vineyard and Two Wheeler Creek Wines, both in Parndarna.
DIVING ? Kangaroo Island has some of the best temperate waters for diving in Australia. Over 50 recorded shipwrecks have occurred around the island. Descending 20-24 meters you can see walls of gorgonia corals and an impressive array of fish including the rare Leafy Sea-dragon, also seals and dolphins make regular appearances.
Kangaview provides a fantastic base for exploring KI. As a family we loved the nearby beach at Stokes Bay & watching amazing sunsets from the deck while wallabies chased round the bushes was just one of our holiday highlights. The owners have thought of every detail & for us, Kanagview was the perfect place to escape & truly appreciate the Australian bush.0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
