Located on the east coast, only 5 minutes drive from Orford, Spring Beach Shack has been in the family for almost 35 years.
On the edge of the sandstone cliffs, looking out over the ocean towards Maria Island, the rustic vertical board shack is absolute waterfront; a minutes walk to the beach and close enough to the ocean to be lulled to sleep by the waves at night...
Much-loved by many over the years, we know you'll be seduced by this homey house.
The Spring Bay area...
Offers plenty for those wanting to explore, exercise or dine well (try Kabuki by the Sea);
Is the gateway to the glorious East Coast, with Swansea, Bicheno and the Freycinet Peninsula within an easy drive;
Is an environmental playground, with bike-riding routes, whale/dolphin-spotting, diving trails (the Troy D, for example) and bushwalks for all levels;
Offers an array of heritage experiences, such as the Convict Trail and Aboriginal middens.
At the northern end of Spring Beach, a 2km cliff-side walking track north to Shelly Beach provides magnificent coastal views of Spring Bay, Mercury Passage and the Maria Island National Park. The town of Triabunna, with its ferry service to Maria Island, is 15 minutes drive north of the shack.
Spring Beach Shack dates from the 1940-50s (and retains a distinctive surf shack feel in its features), with updated bathroom and kitchen, carpets, floorboards and furnishings, outdoor living and landscaping. There are large, fully fenced grounds and stunning views.
With room to sleep 7 (1 queen, 3 singles, 2 fold away singles), this airy, light and large 3-bedroom shack offers an updated kitchen and bathroom, dining/breakfast nook, family room, separate lounge (plenty of books and games), landscaped gardens, large patio and BBQ area, and beautiful sweeping beach and ocean views.
Bedroom 1: 1 x queen bed
Bedroom 2: 2 x single bed
Bedroom 3: 1 x single bed
(Two fold-away single beds and a cot are also provided.)
Three bedrooms face the ocean (fall asleep to the sound of the waves), the lounge has an open fire and TV, the bathroom has a bath and shower, and there's an open-plan dining and kitchen area.
The shack is 20m from the cliff, and a safe path down it offers a minutes walk to beautiful, pristine Spring Beach.
While the fully-fenced shack is child- and pet-friendly, we do not allow any animals INSIDE. Please let us know if you would like to take your pet with you.
All our shacks are smoke-free zones.
A landline at the shack is available for guest use. There is no restriction on incoming calls, but outgoing calls are limited to a 100km radius, and the phone does not dial to mobiles. Mobile phone coverage on the east coast is variable.
You'll need to bring all food, toiletries and beach towels. Spring Beach is 5 minutes drive to Orford and its supermarket, pub, newsagency and post office, petrol station, deli, cafe and restaurants. We recommend Scorchers (for coffee and woodfired pizza); the supermarket is also very well stocked.
We provide, free of charge: basic foods (coffee/tea/pepper/salt/sugar/condiments etc); firewood for the open fire (and a safety firescreen); pressurised water from rainwater tanks (we recommend that you boil all drinking water).
NOTE: We do not provide a cleaning service during your stay.
Spring Bay, Prosser Bay and Mercury Passage are widely recognised for their first-class sailing and fishing. For your convenience, the Spring Beach Shack is able to provide boat moorings in Spring Bay and Triabunna during your stay. Mooring availability may be limited and we strongly advise you pre-book.
We feel so privileged to have stayed in this family shack twice now, and we will return regularly. We love the spectacular views, the original 1950s features, the easy access to one of the most beautiful white-sand beaches in Tasmania, the sound of the waves at night ... A very special place.0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
We loved the Spring Beach Shack so much! What a fabulous house, with amazing views, a great track down to the beach, a beautiful beach, and a little echidna in the garden. We loved it very, very much.0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
