Great location but there were issues with the property. 1) Clock in lounge room not working - needed batteries but clock could not be reached without a ladder. 2) I acknowledge our visit was in winter but the heating was not appropriate to heat the whole house. We had to buy two small heaters. 3) Main bedroom bed was so noisy and squeaky even when you just sat up or moved a muscle in squeaked so we had to use the bed in the second bedroom. 4) The bed in the second bedroom had an electric blanket but the power point was too far away for the cord to reach and there were no extension cords in the property. 5) The waste hose under the kitchen sink was split and water was leaking all through the sink cupboard and onto the floor. I contacted the owner and was advised he couldn't fix the hose until after we had vacated. 6) The TV was so old it was hard to believe the property did not have a modern LED/LCD flat screen TV.

Fantastic place for a group of 7 to stay plenty of room, clean and tidy. Beds comfortable. Linen and towels were hotel standard. Nice little touches provided made us feel very welcomed.

I stayed at Cottage on Thistle for 4 nights on a tour through Victoria and Tasmania with my Mum who was visiting from the UK. This was the third leg of our trip and outshone all the other accommodation we had stayed in up until this point. The quality of the refurbishment and fittings was excellent - very tasteful and not cluttered, which made for a spacious and clean feel to the house. Overall the house was well equipped, particularly the kitchen (which is always a source of frustration in self catering houses that don't provide a good selection of crokery and cookware etc). only comment for improvement would be to provide a chest of drawers in the second bedroom as there was only hanging space and I had to fold all my clothes on a chair. I understand that the owner still has more plans for upgrading the garden and the next door property and this will only improve the standard of the accommodation further. It was a little further out of the town centre than I thought, but an easy drive down the hill to all the shops, bottle-o's and supermarkets etc. I would stay here again and would recommend to others.
