Launceston city

Launceston, Australia's third oldest city, is home to 60,000 Tasmanians. It boasts some of Australia's very best restaurants, including Fee & Me, Stillwater, Mud and La Carafe. You will not find a greater number of beautifully preserved Victorian and Federation homes anywhere else in the Southern Hemisphere and the locals are friendly and always helpful. Cataract Gorge is simple gorgeous!

Best suburbs to stay

As suburbs go, Trevallyn has the water views, the proximity to the city and the gorge close by. East Launceston is a very attractive suburb, expensive and established. The city itself is convenient.
