Cliff Top Hideaway is nestled on a boundary of coastal reserve perched above 30 meter high sandstone cliffs with a view of all of the islands in the Huon river mouth.
It is set amongst two and a half acres of coastal forest with abundant local flora and fauna.
We have counted 28 species of bird from the front verandah including the rare swift parrots! Maybe you can find more or put some meat scraps out in the evening and watch the eastern quolls feeding from the comfort of the cosy fireside lounge!
Step off the front verandah and wander down the coastal track, 5 minutes to the pristine Mickeys beach or continue via a nature reserve for a one hour return stroll to the beautiful Randalls bay.
The waters below the cliffs provide great snorkeling and kayaking (BYO Kayaks and gear) with kelp beds to explore and the fishing in the region is great.
When active you can watch the Aurora Australis (the southern lights) from the front verandah!
Due to the close proximity of the cliffs this rental property is not recommended for young children.
The shack itself has been recently renovated and is clean, cosy and warm and still retains it,s rustic charm as a classic Tasmanian weekender.
It is an open plan design with two sleeping areas, one with a multi bunk and the other with a queen bed which has a glorious view of the coast. There is also a futon lounge which folds down to a double bed.
The lounge has a wood heater and there is a tv/dining room as well as a separate kitchen.
All rooms have coastal or bushland views including the bathroom where you can soak in a lovely old cast iron bath whilst looking out to sea.
There is ample parking space for your car, boat or van.
Cliff Top Hideaway is only 15 minutes drive from the township of Cygnet where you can dine out or pick up your supplies and wander through the many shops and galleries.
Hobart city is just under one hour drive and you can choose three alternate routes including the scenic coastal drive via Kettering.
Cliff Top Hideaway is a great base to explore Tasmania's beautiful south from, with most tourist attractions within two hours drive or just kick back and enjoy the views and walks from home!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent proberty We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "Clifftop Hideaway". It is a delightful, cosy self contained cabin in the bush with birdlife all around and stunning views from every window. The beautiful woodwork touches make quirky and charming. The house is spotlessly clean and has everything one needs including a fabulously comfortable bed and bath that looks out over the bush and water beyond.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic place to stay January 2015 Clifftop Hideaway is like no where we have stayed before. The house is cosy for a family of 4 but that is part of its magic. The views, wildlife, fauna and "feeling" of the place is wonderful. Gai is the right mix of a host who pops in to check everything is OK and to have a chat and to give advice and information should you want it and yet you still feel you are blissfully alone. Sitting on our bed at night watching quolls race around the veranda, wallabys squabbling and the biggest possum in the world rule the roost was magical. The birdlife is spectacular as is the coves and view from the verandah. I agree you wouldn't want to take small children to Clifftop though as the cliffs are very close to the cottage. We kayaked many of the coves and caught an abundance of fish... truly a memorable stay. We will be back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous location! We arrived on 10 Dec 14 and stayed until 16 Dec 14. On arrival we were blown away by the location which was on a cliff overlooking the water surrounded by beautiful native trees and shrubs. The cottage is very cute and from the bed you still look out through big windows to the view. Gai our host greeted us and told us many things about the flora and fauna on the property and provided a lot of other information on the surrounds. The cottage was very clean and neat and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We had THE most relaxing time here just walking, eating and drinking. That was our aim after a hectic year and this property fulfilled the brief. Thanks, Gai.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great weekend escape. Cliff Top Hideaway is a great little weekender and we enjoyed the peace and tranquil setting while enjoying the magnificent view sitting on the veranda having breakfast or sitting inside by the fire. The cottage is clean and comfortable and meets your needs for a rustic getaway. We found the location ideal for exploring the beautiful cygnet area. We would go back.
