Description

Cliff Top Hideaway is nestled on a boundary of coastal reserve perched above 30 meter high sandstone cliffs with a view of all of the islands in the Huon river mouth.
It is set amongst two and a half acres of coastal forest with abundant local flora and fauna.
We have counted 28 species of bird from the front verandah including the rare swift parrots! Maybe you can find more or put some meat scraps out in the evening and watch the eastern quolls feeding from the comfort of the cosy fireside lounge!
Step off the front verandah and wander down the coastal track, 5 minutes to the pristine Mickeys beach or continue via a nature reserve for a one hour return stroll to the beautiful Randalls bay.
The waters below the cliffs provide great snorkeling and kayaking (BYO Kayaks and gear) with kelp beds to explore and the fishing in the region is great.
When active you can watch the Aurora Australis (the southern lights) from the front verandah!
Due to the close proximity of the cliffs this rental property is not recommended for young children.
The shack itself has been recently renovated and is clean, cosy and warm and still retains it,s rustic charm as a classic Tasmanian weekender.
It is an open plan design with two sleeping areas, one with a multi bunk and the other with a queen bed which has a glorious view of the coast. There are also two futon lounges which fold down to doubles.
The lounge has a wood heater and there is a tv/dining room as well as a separate kitchen.
All rooms have coastal or bushland views including the bathroom where you can soak in a lovely old cast iron bath whilst looking out to sea.
There is ample parking space for your car, boat or van.
Cliff Top Hideaway is only 15 minutes drive from the township of Cygnet where you can dine out or pick up your supplies and wander through the many shops and galleries.
Hobart city is just under one hour drive and you can choose three alternate routes including the scenic coastal drive via Kettering.
Cliff Top Hideaway is a great base to explore Tasmania's beautiful south from, with most tourist attractions within two hours drive or just kick back and enjoy the views and walks from home!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tranquil Getaway Came here with my husband for a four day stay. Gai is really friendly and greeted us when we arrived, she also gave us some meat scraps for the quolls. The house is great, with beautiful views of the bay. The kitchen is well equipped and there is also a BBQ. The surrounds are so tranquil and we had really relaxing time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a great beach holiday The cliff top hideaway is a simple beach cottage in a beautiful, secluded location. The cottage is perfectly clean and well maintained and has 2 distinct living areas, a large front deck looking over the sea and a back deck overlooking the bush garden. The kitchen has everything needed for a self catering holiday. We stayed for 4 nights and are already planning to come again to enjoy the animals, birds and the peace of a beautiful beach holiday.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very clean and cosy Our group of 5 adults stayed for 2 nights in December and we loved the cottage and its location. The beds were super comfy and the house was immaculate. A lot of thought and attention has gone into creating a delightful space for guests. We loved its charm and simplicity.  The outlook was beautiful, feeding the quolls at night entertaining and Gai was a very helpful host. Cygnet is a great little town.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful stay at Cliff Top Hideaway We stayed at Cliff Top Hideaway for two nights and fed the amazing native quolls both nights just before dusk. The native bush walks were a highlight with many plants in flower. The walk to the beach was invigorating as the views were amazing. A great change from the NSW scenery. Gai is most helpful and we would stay again when going to Tassy. Bring some tea & coffee with your supplies.

Native wild flowers in garden and surrounding bush wonderful in spring. The cliff walk a must for all visitors. The tranquility of the area in beautiful Tasmania is a perfect place for a holiday. We will try to return and stay again soon. Our host very welcoming but not intrusive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peaceful setting with specular views We had a wonderful stay at Clifftop Hideaway. So quiet and peaceful, lovely walks to deserted beaches, and unbelievable views from the front deck, bedroom and bath. The cabin is very comfortable and cozy, and has everything you need. And fantastic wildlife - so many species of birds, frogs calling at night, and evening entertainment from the quolls! We look forward to visiting again.

Superb location overlooking the bay and a terrific clifftop walkway with stunning views accessing secluded beaches. The house was clean, oh so comfy and very cosy with a ready to go woodfire. We had breakfasts on the verandah and  the quoll family entertained us for an hour every night. My nieces from Holland especially absolutely loved all the wildlife which was hopping by every night.Thank you so much Gai, for all the little details that made our stay so special and memorable. We stayed in many places during our holiday but Clifftop hideway was our favourite!! We will be Back!!
