Cliff Top Hideaway is nestled on a boundary of coastal reserve perched above 30 meter high sandstone cliffs with a view of all of the islands in the Huon river mouth.
It is set amongst two and a half acres of coastal forest with abundant local flora and fauna.
We have counted 28 species of bird from the front verandah including the rare swift parrots! Maybe you can find more or put some meat scraps out in the evening and watch the eastern quolls feeding from the comfort of the cosy fireside lounge!
Step off the front verandah and wander down the coastal track, 5 minutes to the pristine Mickeys beach or continue via a nature reserve for a one hour return stroll to the beautiful Randalls bay.
The waters below the cliffs provide great snorkeling and kayaking (BYO Kayaks and gear) with kelp beds to explore and the fishing in the region is great.
When active you can watch the Aurora Australis (the southern lights) from the front verandah!
Due to the close proximity of the cliffs this rental property is not recommended for young children.
The shack itself has been recently renovated and is clean, cosy and warm and still retains it,s rustic charm as a classic Tasmanian weekender.
It is an open plan design with two sleeping areas, one with a multi bunk and the other with a queen bed which has a glorious view of the coast. There is also a futon lounge which folds down to a double bed.
The lounge has a wood heater and there is a tv/dining room as well as a separate kitchen.
All rooms have coastal or bushland views including the bathroom where you can soak in a lovely old cast iron bath whilst looking out to sea.
There is ample parking space for your car, boat or van.
Cliff Top Hideaway is only 15 minutes drive from the township of Cygnet where you can dine out or pick up your supplies and wander through the many shops and galleries.
Hobart city is just under one hour drive and you can choose three alternate routes including the scenic coastal drive via Kettering.
Cliff Top Hideaway is a great base to explore Tasmania's beautiful south from, with most tourist attractions within two hours drive or just kick back and enjoy the views and walks from home!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great weekend escape. Cliff Top Hideaway is a great little weekender and we enjoyed the peace and tranquil setting while enjoying the magnificent view sitting on the veranda having breakfast or sitting inside by the fire. The cottage is clean and comfortable and meets your needs for a rustic getaway. We found the location ideal for exploring the beautiful cygnet area. We would go back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous place Marvelous cottage with great views. Loved the quolls at dusk and all the birds, o, of course the cheeky possum too. A very restful cottage, beautiful fireplace and a lovely walk to the beach. So perfect I would not mind living there! Super clean and organised. I hope to come back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just beautiful! We loved staying at the little Hideway and couldn't have hoped for a better holiday. The location was just stunning and the romantic ambience, combined with being surrounded by beautiful wildlife was more than we could have hoped for. If you are looking for something to relax, reconnect with nature, slow down and still be fairly close to civilisation, this is the right place to be. Gai (the owner) was just lovely, considerate and very accommodating. Can't wait to go back for another holiday! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful! We had a wonderful time at Gai's property, the view is spectacular, the wildlife abundant and the house is comfortable and peaceful. It was lovely to meet Gai and walk through her beautiful garden. We hope to go back in spring to see the orchids!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wildlife Artists Delight I can't recommend Clifftop Hideaway highly enough for birdwatchers, wildlife and nature lovers. The cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped with spectacular views from the cottage through the surrounding native bushland. Wildlife is in abundance, so for three wildlife artists it was heaven on earth. Loads of birds, wallabies, potoroos, bandicoots, pademelons and the ever present Eastern Quolls. I can't wait to return.
