The Family Shack is a bright, spacious, 4 bedroom property situated in a leafy, quiet street in Rye which leads directly to the beach. Accommodates up to 12. Ideal for 2-3 families to enjoy. Complete with all mod cons including dishwasher, dryer and even a DeLonghi Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine. Property features include corner spa, games room with billiard table, table tennis table, air hockey and soccer tables, Sports Shed full of bikes and sporting equipment, trampoline with safety net, basketball ring, BBQ facilities, 5 TVs and 5 DVD players. The Family Shack has to be the best place on the Mornington Peninsula for a family getaway where mums and dads can chill out while their kids happily entertain themselves. The attention to detail that the owners have given to setting up this property as a family getaway is amazing. They have 4 kids themselves so have thought of everything that could make a family break as memorable and as enjoyable as possible for everyone.
The kids will never want to leave and the parents, well, they can enjoy a quiet beer or a wine in the spa upstairs while the kids explore all that there is to offer in the games room downstairs, in the Sports Shed and in the garden.
The Family Shack is a split level home. On the lower level, there is a fabulous kids retreat/games room which provides plenty of entertainment for the kids (and the grown ups!!) - it is guaranteed to keep the kids occupied during their stay.
In the games room there billiard, table tennis, soccer and air hockey tables along with a TV and DVD player, a library of books and board games and plenty of bean bags to relax on.
As it that isn't enough, the property also offers a Sports Shed which is laden with bikes, skateboards, bats and balls, buckets and spades, totem tennis, volleyball net, inflatable water toys, boogie boards, various other sports equipment and even a fishing rod or two.
In the rear garden, you will find a trampoline with safety net and a basketball ring for the family to enjoy. There are also a couple of little-shell style wading pools for littlies to enjoy on a sunny day. Finally, there is also a little artificial putting green in the sunroom with a couple of putters and some golfballs to have a friendly putting competition.
For families with babies and toddlers, the sunroom at the front of the property contains everything you could possibly need including 3 portacots, 3 highchairs, 2 baby baths, a pram, a rocker, 2 bath rings, a potty, step up stool (so littlies can reach the bathroom sink), baby linen and an abundance of toys, blocks, etc to keep youngsters entertained.
The Family Shack is looked after lovingly - but the best part is that it is a 1970's home and is not so precious that families have to worry about tiptoeing around precious furniture and decor; whilst the property is neat, clean and comfy, it is also a property where everyone can relax and enjoy themselves without worrying themselves.
Upstairs in the main part of the house, there are 3 bedrooms, 2 with QS beds and one bedroom with 2 sets of bunks and 2 trundles.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the mod cons you could ask for including dishwasher, microwave, sandwich presses (2), plasticware/cutlery for young children, wraps (foil, glad wrap, baking paper, paper towel, serviettes), stick mixer, blender, chux, scourers, dishwashing liquid, flyspray etc.
Guests are also provided with the following provisions to help them settle in and enjoy their stay: selection of teas, coffee, sugar, equal, milk, condiments including salt and pepper, oil, vinegar, tomato sauce and toiletries including soap, shampoo and conditioner, bubble bath, toilet paper.
Next to the kitchen is a dining room with a table that comfortably sits 10 but can also seat 12. The dining area leads to the lounge which has plenty of seating including some bean bags. The boys will love the big flat screen TV (and the remote of course!!), the DVD and VCR and the large library of DVDs and videos.
The large bathroom contains a toilet, corner spa bath and shower. There is also a second toilet in the rear sunroom.
The Family Shack also has a bungalow in the rear garden (close to the house). The bungalow contains 2 sets of bunks, one trundle, one QS sofa bed, one SB mattress, cosy sitting area with coffee table, fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, TV, DVD player, logfire style electric heater.
At the rear of The Family Shack, there is a paved outdoor entertaining area complete with 4 burner gas BBQ, good size timber outdoor setting and market umbrella for those sunny days. The BBQ area overlooks the garden so parents can watch their kids have a bounce on the tramp or shoot some hoops while they enjoy a quiet drink together.
We appreciate that families do not want to fill the car with heaps of bedding and linen so the following is provided: mattress protectors, doonas and doona covers, pillows and pillowcases, teatowels, bath mats, handtowels and facewashers. All guests need to bring are their own towels and sheets (or sleeping bags).
Your beloved pooch hasn't been forgotten either. The garden is fully fenced so your four legged friend is safe to explore the surrounds and perhaps bury a bone or two. Large and medium sized kennels (2) can be found in the garden. We also offer a safe, enclosed sunroom which contains 3 dog beds (2 x soft fabric beds and 1 x sling bed) if your doggy needs his or her own sleeping quarters. Dog bowls, a pooper scooper and poo bags are also provided. There are also plenty of dog-friendly beaches close by for your pooches to have a run.
And if you have a feathered friend who you would like to join you on your vacation, we even have a birdcage suitable for budgies, canaries or even a cockatiel (let us know in advance if you need the cage so we can have it ready for you).
The property is walking distance (900m) to the lovely Tyrone foreshore between Rye and Blairgowrie - one of the most sought after beaches on the Peninsula.
There is ample off-street parking at The Family Shack for cars, boat, jetskis etc.
This is the ideal retreat for family getaways. End of school celebrations, parties and functions not permitted. Nightly rates are based on 6 guests staying. Additional costs apply for extra persons.
