Quiet beach side location, ideal family beach house with 4 good size bedrooms, BYO linen, or we can organise supply for $20 per person. House includes two kitchens, perfect for two families. Take the private track to the beach, or enjoy the view from the huge deck - it's a perfect holiday for families. (NOT AVAILABLE TO "SCHOOLIES") The house itself has floorboards throughout so any sand that you bring back from the beach can easily be taken care of. Upstairs we have a spacious kitchen with fridge, microwave, stove, oven and dishwasher. There is also a dining area and lounge with three cosy couches for snuggling around the Coonara heater should you come in winter. Actually, you'll probably rarely use the dining area inside as you'll spend all your time at the outside dining setting, cooking on the BBQ and admiring the view. It's nice and sheltered unlike many places on the Island, just beautiful and peaceful in any season. Bedding configuration: Bedroom 1 - 1 queen bed and ensuite Bedroom 2 - 1 double bed and one set of bunks (2x single) Bedroom 3 - Two sets of bunks (4 x single) SC unit (within the house) - Bedroom - Queen bed and ensuite Bedroom 1 is a large room with a lovely ensuite and plenty of room to put one of the spare mattresses on the floor if needed. Bedroom 2 is ingeniously divided with a bank of cupboards - one side has a double bed, and the other a set of bunks. Perfect for Mum and Dad to have some privacy yet still have the children near by. Bedroom 3 is a child's paradise with two sets of bunks so you can throw all the kids in together, shut the door and head for the balcony! Then you go through the connecting door to another great space - a self contained unit complete with another kitchen, living, lounge, the fourth QS bedroom and ensuite. The lounge is also a fold down double bed if you need it. This is the perfect space for another family, or for young children who get up earlier than everyone else, or when you just need a bit more privacy. A self contained area with a split system heater and airconditioner and a lovely view of the back yard. All of downstairs is serviced by three bathrooms (one in the unit, one ensuite and a further central toilet and bathroom). A spacious laundry is also on the ground floor. Another toilet upstairs means you don't have to go down and up stairs. There is a garage and carport, and big back yard with heaps of room to kick the footy under the shade of the trees should you tire of the beach. And speaking of the beach - well, that's really why we bought this property. The beach is literally at the end of the back yard. Just a short walk down a private track , over the sand dune and you're there! The start of the track is like an enchanted forest, with hanging vines for maximum privacy - not to mention beauty! So less than two minutes and you're on the beach. Kids had enough? Head back home and come back later. Decide you want to fish once you get there? An easy walk back to grab the rod. Forgot the wine to complement a magnificent sunset? Zip home and grab a chilled bottle out of the fridge. And thank goodness, Ventnor Beach remains a well kept secret so we have rarely seen more than a hundred people on this kilometre long beach. It is that close, and that fantastic!

Phillip Island - a great place for a family holiday or just a weekend break!

Phillip Island is an easy hour and a half drive from Melbourne. The Island is full of fantastic natural attractions including the world famous Penguin Parade, the Nobbies (seals and ocean life) and a terrific Koala Park to name a few. Both the surf beaches and the bay beaches are outstandingly beautiful, as is the unique Churchill Island. And there are plenty of other attractions such as the race track, a bowling alley, terrific restaurants, a maze and adventure park - just loads of things for families of all ages.

Ventnor is the next beach along from the main town of Cowes. Ventnor is a bit of a well kept secret, with the kilometre long beach generally having not more than 100 people on it, even in the middle of summer. It's a short drive into Cowes, but is well serviced by a local licensed shop so if you don't ever want to go into town you don't have to.

Charlie's Place is a two storey family beach house nestled in a tranquil setting in the trees, right on the beach, protected by dunes. A lovely bush feel yet close to all amenities.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely position, relaxed house A house for a family. Very practical in most ways. We found the downstairs living area was great for breakfast. Kangaroos and bird life just out the window. Little children did not need to be watched there for stairs danger nor hot fire danger, but could eat and be released out to the covered porch or grassed area in full view of adults lingering over coffee. The downstairs kitchen is not well equipped, but we simply brought the necessities from the large and generously equipped upstairs kitchen. Hopefully got everything back where it belonged! Upstairs was our night time space. A big table, outside deck and proper wood heater with wood supplied. Very relaxing. There are stairs which was a worry for Nanny but not for anyone else! The path to the beach was wonderful. Hidden close by the house we did not see it straight away and found other creative paths to use. The path is on the southern side of the garden very close to the downstairs kitchen. A very special track surely only used by this house. On the beach make a landmark so you know where to come back too! The track/path winds amongst the coastal bush up and down the sand dunes (totally covered in bush). On more than one occasion we startled the lovely fluffy wallabies. The track only takes a minute or two to walk, and opens onto the beach. It feels very secluded and special. Because the house is not new, and nor is anything in it, the anxiety factor with small children was relatively low. There were plenty of little heaters, cooking utensils, toys and so on. There was almost enough wood, and we were not stingy with the fire! I think usually there'd have been plenty. It was topped up while we were there, without input from us. Overall we'd love to be back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful location, big house. We enjoyed our stay, 10 adults & 4 children. There were not enough double beds for the 5 couples. The description of the house was confusing. The beach was so close it was wonderful to wander there every day, even in winter. More attention to the house cleaning was needed, some cobwebs and too much sand still on the floor. The upstairs oven needs attention. The upstairs area becomes wonderfully warm with sunshine in the winter months. Just lovely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A lovely beach-side house We stayed at Charlies Place with another family and had a marvellous time. We both had small children who were kept entertained by with two living areas, close access to the beach, and wallabies and rabbits that came into the back yard in the evening. The fire kept upstairs lovely and warm, downstairs could be cold but there were heaters available. The deck is the highlight of the house with plenty of room for entertaining. The house is beachy, well kept, and clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful location! We really enjoyed our stay at Charlie's Place - close to the beach, spacious, well-maintained and with a lovely back-lawned area which was perfect for the kids to play on. It felt very private and was quiet and relaxing. Recommended.
