Things to see and do whilst staying at Lake Apartment Ballarat
Whilst staying at Lake Apartment why not explore Ballarat's historic buildings, Ballarat Fine Art Gallery which houses the country's largest and finest regional collection of art, visit her Majesty's Theatre circa 1858, and mainland Australia's oldest continously operating theatre where concerts, plays, live shows and the famous South Street competions are held.
Visit the Ballarat Tramway Museum near the Botanical Gardens and of course not to be missed is the Botanical Gardens dating back to trees planted in 1863. Whilst at the Botanical Gardens view the statuary including the Prime Minister's Avenue featuring bronze busts of every Australian Prime Minister. In the historic statuary pavilion you will see the marble statues including the famous Flight From Pompeii.
Discover the range of upmarket eateries dotted throughout the city's tree lined streets, the colonial history on the Heritage Walking Trail. Spend time pottering through antique shops, picnic in the gardens, check out the cemetaries with graves of Stockade heroes and early pioneers. A fascinating chinese graveyard can be found in the cemetary at the top of Lydiard Street. Why not join the many people who take a six kilometre walk around Lake Wendouree (starting to look like its old self again with the water returning) with many eateries / bars to stop for a coffee or ale along the way
