We'v told there are chickens, and children can enjoy collecting eggs, but When we got there only saw two chickens, only one hen! No air conditioning in 35 °c hot day. Online booking was $502, but the owner charged us $700, being told the public pool is open on Christmas Day, but we were disappointed too.

We had a lovely 10 days, young kids had a ball collecting eggs, feeding chooks, gardening, friends came to visit, dogs were welcomed. Host Ian couldn't have been more friendly, showed us some places outside the norm! Definitely a great holiday, we'd certainly go back again.

Lovely Family Holiday
Ian could not have been more helpful. A lovely quiet spot to get away. I was not surprised when two of the children said "I want to live here!". They enjoyed being free to roam the property, especially the secret garden. The 'big boys' enjoyed their winery tour too.

Outstanding host is the only way to describe Ian, the owner of Cumberland House. Amazing place with such amazing history all of which Ian has presented to its very best advantage. Ian is very welcoming and sensitive to the needs of his guests. The only problem was that I could not stay longer..!Well done Ian - and thank you so very much for a very memorable stay.
