  • "Ararat is only 2.5 hours from Melbourne on the Western Highway. Very good base from which to explore the numerous wineries of the Great Western, Pyrenees and Langi Ghiran areas, and of course the Grampians. Town has most amenities you'd require including some excellent pubs and cafes, plus the petrol is often cheaper than the big smoke."
