Experience the true heart of the Blue Mountains in unspoilt Blackheath and stay in a real turn of the (20th) century worker's cottage!
Architect-designed and renovated, every original feature in Magic Cottage has been retained and enhanced with contemporary fittings and modern technology. Timber weatherboards meet stainless steel, and the traditional woodstove shares pride of place with the ultra-modern gas fireplace. From the polished original floorboards, to the brand-new polyurethane/caesarstone kitchen and porcelain-tiled bathroom, every detail has been painstakingly and lovingly brought to life.
The look is today, but the early-settler experience is magic!
Magic Cottage is located in a quiet and tranquil location so it is a perfect place to relax and unwind - it's not suitable for parties or groups wanting to have loud, party time together.
Sleep in luxury on 100% cotton, 1000 thread-count sheets under duck down/feather quilts. In the cooler months, keep warm with our luxury electric blankets.
There is a gas fireplace in the living room, a traditional wood stove (a small supply of wood supplied) in the kitchen and heaters in each bedroom.
There are ceiling fans in the living and main bedroom, and a (portable) Dyson Air Multiplier in the smaller bedroom to keep you cool in summer.
Our coffee is Lavazza. Our tea is T2 - English Breakfast. We do not drink anything less nor do we expect you to. We also provide a number of herbal teas to sooth the soul.
Magic Cottage has a well-equipped kitchen and spice rack. We also have a secret herb patch – behind the deck and another in the yard below the carport! Cut your flavours FRESH – tarragon, Vietnamese mint, oregano, mint, curry plant, rosemary, sage, borage, and lots, more grow in the patch (varies seasonally)!
In the warmer months, light up the gas BBQ and enjoy cooking and dining alfresco on the deck with your loved ones!
We love that Blackheath still has the feel of the blue mountains of yesteryear - that small town feeling - where people say hello as you walk by. All the essentials are available on the high street and there is even an award winning restaurant all within a few minutes walk.
Magic Cottage is a few minutes’ walk to the village centre – train station, antique shops, award-winning restaurants, cafes, pubs, galleries and lots more. Head in the opposite direction from the cottage and scenic bush walks await, including views of the newly renovated Hydro Majestic and stunning scenery.
The hustle and bustle of Leura is less than 15 minutes by car or 20 minutes by train. A trip to the 3 Sisters in Katoomba is 17 minutes by car. While our very own Govetts Leap Lookout is 6 minutes by car or about 35 minutes walk. Magnificent Hargraves Lookout is only 11 minutes drive away. There's so much to see!
Watch a movie in retro cinema Mount Vic Flicks – only 8 minutes drive away - or catch the Rhododendron Festival in November. Buy the freshest fruit and veggies in the Farmers’ Market. There’s always something fun to do!
Someone will be available at all times to assist you if required, however our cottage is setup so that you will be able to arrive and depart whenever suits you - we won't be hanging around, crowding your get away style.
Please note that all enquiries are dealt with in the order received by us, however when there are overlapping dates, preference will be given to guests requesting longer stays. This of course does not affect confirmed bookings only enquiries.
We ask for a small security deposit which we get you to pay by credit card so we can easily refund it following your stay. Since listing in July 2015 we haven't had any situations that have required us to keep any or all of the security deposit.
