Wake to the sound of laughing kookaburras and alpacas humming as they graze. Watch the sunrise over Mt Hay as you limber up with yoga on our garden terrace. Hike to Govetts Leap or the Grand Canyon. In the evening, eat out at award winning restaurants in the village. Then stroll back to the cabin under a sky full of stars.

Cosy eco-cabin with a double bed. Perfect for singles or couples that enjoy the outdoors

At 1000-m above sea level, you can leave city stress & smog behind.

Think of our cabin as a simple, small, and high-quality space. It has a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, sink, a wood stove, and hardwood floors in the main room, and an ensuite with toilet & shower.

The cabin was designed as part of our eco-home and completed in 2014. It s situated on two acres, next to the Blue Mountains National Park. Our home was once a market garden. Now we are establishing a small vegetable garden & rehabilitating the old orchard. Alpacas peacefully mow our paddocks.

The windows are double-glazed for insulation. The doors and windows are made from recycled Australian hardwoods. The main internal wall is insulated with straw and rendered in lime. The cabin uses clever air flow to eliminate the need for air-conditioning and fans when it s hot. In the cooler months, a small wood stove provides heat, which is stored in the brick surround to radiate into the room. We gather our wood sustainably from a local tree-lopper. Sunlight enters a private window which looks on to the old orchard where you will see Crimson Rosellas. The cabin is clad in native eucalypt weather-boards that need no upkeep. The awning is propped by curved Blackwood timbers from trees that grow on our property.

Guest access:

Guests are free to use the large yard area for bird watching and the terrace for yoga or morning tea. The alpacas are friendly but shy. They don't spit, bite, or kick. Approach them gently so they don t get frightened.

Other things to note:

Although the cabin has a wood stove for heating, guests are not permitted to light the fire themselves for insurance purposes. Instead, I will light it for you and supply fire wood that has been sustainably harvested.

Unfortunately, the NBN has slowed down our internet. Make it a low-tech weekend full of bushwalks and cafes.

There are limited cooking facilities. The stove is for boiling the kettle, and the oven is no longer operational.

We have one off-street guest car space.
