Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cosy, quiet and relaxing Chestnut lodge is surrounded by beautiful forest and birds. Just beautiful. Very tranquil too. Not far to walking tracks and even into town. Inside, it's very cosy and homely. Great heating and a very cosy lounge. We were blessed to meet the owner who is also very lovely and accommodating for any needs. My family loved staying here for two weeks. Thank you so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cosy and unpretentious We had such a great time at chestnut lodge. The location is just outside the Katoomba town centre, and a hop away from Scenic World and some of the best spots the Blue Mountains has to offer. It's easy to access local groceries, restaurants and cafes, or the vistas you've come to the blue mountains for. The property itself is a renovated cottage, with all basic amenities and a fully functioning kitchen. This is not a five star hotel, but to be honest, I appreciated the homeliness and character. Everything worked perfectly, everything was clean and comfortable, and - critically for June - there is ample heating in the form of a fireplace, reverse cycle air conditioner, in room heaters and electric blankets. Bedding was likewise warm and plentiful and the hot water didn't run out with two adults and a bath for the kids, so big tick there. The owners had thoughtfully left behind some teas for us, and the bar fridge accommodated our extra groceries. The TV and dvd player got a workout with the kids - having a few movies left behind came in very handy, and I really appreciated the selection of books and boardgames as well. Really, Chestnut Lodge felt like a home away from home for our weekend away. Coming back there in the dusk after a day of hiking up and down the mountains in the cold rain was a really welcome prospect. Settling onto the couch with a roaring fire, a cup of tea and the heater on - it couldn't get much better. The whole family is looking forward to coming back.
