Kookaburra Cottage is an elegant, comfortable, spacious, well-built house perfect for enjoying the special things the Blue Mountains offer; the lookouts, the bushwalks, the spring flowers, the autumn leaves and the winter evenings. It looks out onto cold climate gardens and backlit escarpment views through the trees from its large picture windows. It is the perfect place for a romantic couple's getaway or for a real old fashioned family holiday. It is one of the very nicest houses in Katoomba and very reasonably priced.

On sunny days enjoy the beautiful bushwalks, spectacular views and the lovely cold climate gardens for which the Blue Mountains are famous. On rainy days relax with a movie or read a book - or try the hot chocolate at the Blue Mountains Chocolate Company in nearby Lurline Street. There are lots of books and a cupboard full of games and jigsaws in the traditional holiday house style.

There is also free unlimited WiFi with Netflix.

The house has four bedrooms and sleeps six in two queen-sized beds and two single beds.

We provide all linen and towels. The sheets, quilt covers, blankets and towels are by Morgan and Finch.

The spacious original kitchen is well equipped with Le Creuset cookware, food processor, rice cooker, electric wok and everything you need to cook up a storm. We provide basics such as oil, herbs and spices, salt, pepper, sugar, coffee, and a wide range of Twinings teas. There is a microwave, a toaster, a toasted sandwich maker and an espresso maker. There is a good range of high quality cutlery, crockery and glasses.

The kitchen even has a marble pastry slab in its own drawer, We provide milk and a bottle of champagne. Please use whatever you need from the pantry cupboard.

The laundry has a Miele washing machine and iron and ironing board.

The private, sunny fully fenced back garden has an outdoor setting and a barbecue for outdoor entertaining. A beautiful mature pink dogwood tree provides shade for hot summer days.

The living room has a TV with DVD player and a selection of DVDs. IF you feel like a relaxing evening just reading a book you will find plenty to choose from in the eclectic collection on the bookshelves.

There are toiletries such as a selection of shampoos, soap and handwash available and a hairdryer.

Kookaburra Cottage has full gas fired central heating to keep you warm on the coldest mountain days. It has also been wisely built with a north-easterly aspect to make the most of the sun during the day.

Kookaburra Cottage is set in a quiet area with residential houses around. We request that you do not hold parties or make noise outside after nine o'clock.


Kookaburra Cottage is a short level walk from Echo Point and the Three Sisters. Just across the road is the beautiful Prince Henry Cliff Walk to Echo Point and the Leura Cascades.

Katoomba is renowned for the Three Sisters and the spectacular views across the Jamison Valley. The Blue Mountains is a World Heritage Area and one of Australia's most popular tourist destinations. Kookaburra Cottage is situated right in the most popular tourist hub of the Blue Mountains.

It is on the escarpment directly across the road from the Prince Henry Cliff Walk with its many lookouts and easy walking. The Three Sisters and Echo Point are just 500 metres away. Scenic world is only 2.1 kilometres away.

Kookaburra Cottage is on a quiet corner block with a charming country style laneway to the rear offering unrestricted parking.

It has filtered views through the trees to the Jamison Valley.

The Blue Mountains Explorer Bus stops at nearby Honeymoon Lookout and takes you into Leura and Katoomba via the most scenic route. The Trolley Tours bus also stops at Silver Mist Park across the road from Kookaburra Cottage.


Kookaburra Cottage has been a popular Katoomba holiday house for many years with good reason. It is a classic generously proportioned older style family house, built with skill and care and furnished with a blend of antiques and modern vintage style reproduction furnishings, original artwork and Persian rugs. It is in one of the very best positions in Katoomba.

You will find it a warm, roomy and relaxing place to be, and perfectly situated for the enjoyment of all the special attractions the Blue Mountains have to offer.
