My mountain kitchen rules
April 1, 2012
Three Bridges may be walking distance from the restaurants of Leura village, but they remain untried during Nikki Marshall's stay.
I'm sure there must be great restaurants in Leura. Trouble is, I have absolutely no interest in trying them.
I'm at Three Bridges, a holiday-rental house in the heart of the village. Screened from the road by trees, hedges and a blue picket fence, at first glance it appears to be an unassuming weatherboard cottage. But Tardis-like it opens up into a huge home, boasting five bedrooms, three living rooms and an outdoor terrace looking over an enormous rear garden.
I'm fighting the urge to begin baking.
And smack in the middle of the property, in the largest, lightest room in the house, I've found my fantasy kitchen - and I'm having trouble tearing myself away.
Skylights in cathedral ceilings illuminate a vast CaesarStone island bench and a magnificent, 14-seat hardwood dining table.
There's a double fridge, two sinks, a six-burner gas hob (with a wok burner - I've always dreamed of a wok burner ... ) and no fewer than three ovens. We've come up to the Blue Mountains to see the bush and here I am fighting off the urge to begin baking.
The yard is full of trees and shrubs and would be paradise for children - as long as they were older, or supervised. It's dissected by a tiny brook, crossed by three footbridges. (It's days before I realise that the house must be named for them.)
Testimonials for Three Bridges Leura
We had the most lovely stay at three bridges, the property is fabulous. We arrived early and the cleaners were marvellous letting us put our food in the fridge before embarking on our shopping trip through Leura.
I would highly recommend anyone to stay here.
Thank you for the wonderful accommodation at Three Bridges! We had the most fantastic time - kids put on a talent quest in the garden, we had caterers come in and cook and clean for us for a night of luxury, and enjoyed the beautiful walks around Leura. Thanks again for a memorable stay!

Great house for a girls weekend away. The bedrooms were beautiful, lovely linen and very comfortable. The house is really well equiped, with a huge kitchen and dining room and everything you could possibly need is there. Lovely deck and outlook and all in a good location for Leura and walks. Thanks for the late check-out, I would recommend the house to others.
What a fabulous stay we had! The spacious house was perfect for our needs of accomodating 11 people comfortably! The log fire and central heating meant it is a truly cosy hideaway in the mountains. The kids just loved running around the huge backyard - perfect for hide and seek and lollie hunts! The kitchen is extremely well equipped and perfect to prepare meals. I highly recommend this place for a truly lovely getaway.
We had a really fabulous time at the Three Bridges and
all went exceptionally well except we couldn't get the spa to work.
Many thanks for the extended to checkout time. It is certainly a home
we will revisit!
There were 12 of us who went up to Leura for some R & R. The house was extremely comfortable, elegant and well equipped. We had a great time. The weather was lousy but we did not need to venture outside as we had everything we wanted inside. I thoroughly recommend it.
We had a wonderful stay at Three Bridges. The bedrooms were really comfortable, the kitchen fabulous and it was glorious to sit outside on the deck looking at the beautiful spring garden. We'll definitely be back!
