Description

"Elsmore" Cottage

This little cottage started it's life as a one room gardener's hut around the turn of the nineteenth century. It remained reasonably untouched until the early 1990's when it was extended and modernised. The land was used until the 1960's as a flower farm with Dahlias and Gladioli grown. Many of the dry stone walled terraces can still be seen on the property. Elsmore is also renowned for it's Rhododendrons with their huge pink flowers on display from late September until early November. While 8 mins walk to the Imperial Hotel, "Elsmore" is a true hideaway. It is also within walking distance of local bush walks and rock climbing areas.

The house is ideal for couples seeking a quiet and cosy getaway or for families. There is a rear deck for a morning coffee or an afternoon refreshment.

Elsmore is hidden in the trees surrounded by gums and rhododendrons, which display a mass of pink flowers in spring.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Family bush retreat Stayed here as family of 4. Elsmore offered the bush retreat we were looking for which was a rustic feel and secluded location - even had a friendly kangaroo watch us shower! Very warm house for cold nights. Close to local cafe and the art cinema is recommended. Host was great to deal with. Great for bushwalking too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute and cozy Elsmore was just adorable! Facilities were great and the house had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Bed was comfy and the linen was crisp! Fire was great, but the heaters worked well on their own as well. The driveway is steep and slippery so we parked at the top to avoid getting stuck. Can be hard work carrying heavy bags up and down. Location was great as was the property, which overlooked relaxing bush landscape.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute cottage We loved the location and great local bushwalks but the second bedroom's bunk situation isn't really appropriate for guests bigger than small children. There is no oven which is very disappointing. The fire facilities in the loungeroom are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Paradise I've been to Elsmore many times now - for me its paradise. The location in Mount Victoria is like another world away from the city, the views are spectacular, and its rustic but in a way that I love. Highly recommended.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing Rustic surroundings but disappointed with the accommodation. The cottage was musty. It was full of cobwebs and dust. I am an asthmatic and due to the dust, it got aggravated. I was hoping to breath in some fresh mountain air during my stay but alas that didn't happen. There was a huge spider behind the photo frame above the master bed, not sure whether it was poisonous or not. The toilet seat needs to be changed, it was old and stained. The deck was nice but no deck furniture to sit in and enjoy the view, were forced to take out the uncomfortable wooden dining chairs, hence sitting out was not a pleasant experience. All in all not worth the price we paid.
