Very quiet lakeside location set below the street, surrounded by mature trees. A short, level walk to lively local café Like Minds and Avoca Village and beach. Kayaks, paddle boats and canoes available for hire from Aqua Fun. Avoca village is bustling with cafes, a patisserie and bakery, local restaurants, a newsagent, chemist, medical services, etc. Local restaurants include pizza, Malaysian, Chinese and excellent Italian. And then there's the famous Avoca Bowlo for a real taste of local colour. The beautiful Avoca Beach is one of NSW's most highly rated surf beaches but also includes shallow patrolled areas for child-friendly paddling and long sections of off-leash dog areas - a real dog heaven
The long stretch of beach is perfect for both novice and experienced surfers, and it's also ideal for recreational swimming. Locals meet regularly for ocean swims. You can take surfing classes at the Central Coast Surf School or dive down to the site of the Ex-HMAS Adelaide, a former Australian warship that was deliberately sunk to create an artificial reef.
Next to the beach there's the historic Avoca Beach Picture Theatre - a local institution which not only offers many outstanding art movies and lighter fare but also hosts a wide range of musical events featuring international artists such as David Helfgott. Multiplex movie theatres are also located in Erina Fair. Terrigal is another local beach area with a great many restaurants, bars and night-time entertainment.
