MONTHLY UPDATES (due to character limitations imposed by the Stayz website the updates continue in this section - see below for previous months).
Mainly gardening work is being focussed on this month. The next weekend available is 17-19 February 2017. This is a great time to stay and the pool will be awesome.
Spring and rain is upon us. Staining of the front deck is near completion and now looks as new. Fountain in driveway repainted and back in operation with lights. We are waiting for mother nature to bring us the ducklings. All weekends for 2016 are booked - first available weekend is 13-15 January 2017. Or contact us for alternate dates.
The extended warm Sydney weather has disappeared and so we have ordered in our winter firewood for guests to use on the lounge woodfire - which is sometimes prepared and burning for guests arrival.
There has been a fluster of bookings recently and the TWO weekends remaining available for this calendar year are 18-20 November and 16-18 December.
Painting around the property has been underway between the rain spells.
We currently only have seven (7) unbooked weekends available until the end of this year. We encourage group organisers to check the online calendar to see if any of the remaining dates fit with your preferred choice. There have already been a number of groups that have missed out on their first selection.
Our builders have been busy this week - a nice new spotted gum timber entrance has been installed at the main entrance. Oiling of this has also been completed. We are also replacing and spring cleaning the netting in the pool area. And the pool temperature is at or above 29 degrees at the beginning of this month.
Additional outdoor furniture added around the pool area - groups are enjoying the warm weather we are having and is the area they are spending most of their time. Our large job of cleaning the tennis court has finally been finished and looking good for future Lleyton Hewitts to have a work out on. New basketball hoop and backboard also put up. Don't forget - there are complimentary double kayaks on site for guest use - and they come with a choice of fast or slow paddles.
Congratulations to The All Blacks (oops - New Zealand) on their back to back Rugby World Cup Final victory. To Australia - well done for the great opposition team performance. See you in four years.
18 November 2015 - RIP The Legendary Jonah Lomu - a sad day for world rugby.
First weekend in December now available due to late cancellation. This is the last weekend available this calendar year.
As we (I) nervously await the outcome of this weekends Rugby World Cup semifinal matches we are now into the beginning of the warmer months. We have put in a new solar pump and control panel and the last time we looked the pool was at 26 degrees. It is capped off at 30/31 as we do not want it to be a spa pool.
Our winter season of firewood has arrived and stacked outside under the verandas for guests to use in the lounge room fireplace. BYO marshmallows and enjoy the comfortable surroundings with a nice glass of wine. We have updated the bedside table lights of each room - you just need to touch the base of the light to turn them on and off. The fallen trees we will cut up so guests may use them on the outdoor camp fire during the cooler months. This area has also got tables and chairs setup - with the option to have a real charcoal BBQ rather than use the gas Weber one in the pool area.
Other than a loss of power for about six days and a few trees coming down during the NSW storm we are fully operational and damage free. We have put four new foldaway beds into the house to offer more flexible sleeping arrangements. The maximum sleeping capacity of these single beds is 110kg.
Extra outdoor chairs have been added to the pool area. The Weber BBQ has also been refurbished with a number of new parts and operating like brand new once again.
A semi automatic coffee machine has been put into the kitchen - so BYO favourite coffee beans to give you and others the start they need in the morning. Pool temperature is sitting around the maximum we let it go to - at 31 degrees. Have been wondering why our cleaner prefers to prepare the house over three days!
Happy New Year - 2015. It seems this is to be a good year as it all adds up to 8 (2+0+1+5). Some of us hope it also turns into a good omen for the All Blacks to win the Rugby World Cup again in October!!
Last month we mentioned we looked at improving the sleeping comfort of guests. Based on independent testimonials of the products of Microcloud () we have now put new mattress toppers on all of the beds, and also included Microcloud pillows.
Already feedback from guests has been highly complimentary and so we are pleased with the way this initiative has been accepted.
We would like to wish all our previous and yet to visit guests a very Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.
We also would like to say a special THANK YOU to every group organiser that has or is in the process of organising a group getaway. We fully appreciate the efforts of each organiser - the time, the stress and just your general desire to try and accommodate each member of your group. It is sometimes difficult to get everyone to agree and your patience and tolerance is certainly acknowledged from our perspective.
We will certainly try to fit in with your weekend of choice and we do encourage making a deposit early to confirm your dates.
At time of writing the first weekend we have available in 2015 is 6-8 March. Next dates available are in April - and the Easter weekend has not been booked.
A new stereo system has been put into the lounge room - a couple of its functionality includes having access to digital radio, and can also connect to your mobile phone with bluetooth technology.
We are also looking at further improving the sleeping comfort of guests and hope to provide an update on this post Xmas.
The new carpet has now been laid in each of the six bedrooms and all upstairs. It looks and feels great and we do ask for guests not to wear shoes in these areas.
New curtains are being added to a number of rooms in the house. We have also upgraded the Foxtel service in the lounge room to High Definition (essentially means the men folk can watch the sports channels with a better picture!). DVDs can be played on the main TV as well as the bedroom TVs.
Our apologies that we have not been keeping up with providing a monthly update. We will endeavour to let you know what is happening.
This month we are having new carpet laid in the guesthouse. Our winter guests are certainly enjoying themselves with the fire in the lounge - and I do my best to have it going upon arrival just so you can simply put another log on it to keep it going.
Following a recent cold snap we have brought forward ordering of firewood. Lounge room fireplace has been completely serviced and plenty of firewood has been conveniently stacked under cover. Mid month guests were the first to use the fireplace and very happy with the heat generated and ambience provided.
We were away most of this month and therefore no material updates can be advised.
New tennis court lights installed - to be used only for playing tennis please! General improvements are being undertaken by my father in law who is currently visiting - so more artwork going up on walls is one improvement. New TV aerial work has been installed post the storms we had.
Ducklings are getting bigger and friendly albeit now down to five.
New AEG oven installed in kitchen - has all the bells and whistles and a guide book on how to start it. Pool looking great - we have capped the solar temperature so it does not exceed 30 degrees which is quite warm. New light installed over BBQ area.
Good to see Mum Duck still has her 7 ducklings waddling behind her.
Merry Xmas everyone and Happy New Year for 2013
Tennis court surface all finished. New net up. New floodlights to be added in New Year.
New Zealand Rugby Championship winners 2013 - nothing more need to be said!!
Our calendar is up to date to enable you to secure the dates you prefer for those birthday or anniversary get togethers. We are sorry if your particular weekend is already taken, but hopefully you are sufficiently flexible with your dates as it is a great place to stay and chill out. Thank you - David and Alison.
