CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN

Ella's Place was one of the best experiences we've had travelling around the country. It was like coming home; so incredibly special.

To walk into such an attractive and well-presented cottage after such a long journey was an absolute pleasure. Every possible convenience was available and we had the most wonderful time.

The house, in a word, is AMAZING, and I would recommend Ella's Place to anyone who appreciates value for money and a 'old world' experience. It was way beyond any experience a hotel/motel could provide and far more economical - and cool

It's only been a month but we've already booked our return stay to Ella's Place and magnificent Broken Hill.

THE MOST CHARMING COTTAGE EVER

5 of 5 stars Reviewed for a stay in July 2016

I admire the way the owners have renovated this cottage and given it new life This place has it all: comfort, charm, quirkiness, a retro feel, lots of thoughtful extras: books, magazines, antiques, luxurious bedlinen, sunny backyard, and for animal lovers: even comes with a stray cat

We felt like visiting a long lost auntie, who has lovingly prepared for our visit, rather than walking into a "holiday rental". This also appealed to my boys, aged 15 and 17. They went on a discovery tour around the house and appreciated the many wonderful touches of the life of "yesteryear" without missing out on any modern comforts, such as TV, DVDs, electric blankets and superb heating

This cottage is in a quiet lane amidst other quirky cottages, which makes you feel right at home. We stayed for 6 nights and went to all the museums and galleries in Broken Hill and spent a lovely day in Silverton and another day in Mutawintji National Park. Broken Hill is a very interesting town if you take the time to stay a while. If you are fussy, you'll find everything you could ever wish for. If you are not fussy which we aren't, you'll be in seventh heaven.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If Walls Could Talk...... “If walls could talk …” Ella’s Place wins the “accommodation award” hands-downs for an historical experience.  From the photographs of the original Ella to the restoration diary one can relive the experience of the miner’s cottage. The cottage is a tasteful restoration that is part art deco, part history.  Staying here is very much a personal rather than corporate experience.  Because we were arriving on Christmas Eve, the owners left the fridge very welcomingly filled. The kitchen is fully functional with all the required tools and appliances including (most importantly) sharp knives. The neighbourhood makes it real as well.   Perhaps one in three houses have been restored – the rest are in their original condition and not are always well maintained but reflect the live of the miners. It only adds to the experience.
