....... so read what the Sydney Morning Herald's journalist for Saturday's 'TRAVELER' magazine Bruce Elder said when he stayed with his family at 'A Miner's Rest' (unbeknown to us.)

He wrote... 'the cottage was 'A Miner Miracle'. 'The experience of staying in this authentic miner's cottage was delightful'.

'The perfect base from which to explore at a fair price.

A Miner's Rest will delight! ' (see the full text in the cottage.)

Bruce and family stayed incognito and then the next thing we knew we had a write-up in the 'Traveler' section of the Sydney Morning Saturday Herald - for which we thank him.

AND...... 'GOOD WEEKENDS AWAY' said ('Delightful stay!') pages 60/61 by Kerrie O'Brien

'Great place to come home to on a hot day. We loved Miner's and the kids enjoyed the spa - and so did we. We found it close to everything and there was not one thing we wanted that was not there. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!' Merry & Jim, Cate and Laurie. Jan '14

'What a surprise when we walked into the cottage! It was really sweet and reminded us of John's grandma's house it was so warm and welcoming and it was 'yesteryear' all right but SO comfortable. It sort of encloses you with it's friendliness. We loved Broken Hill and all there was to do - we were flat out every day and wish we could have stayed for a few more days, but it was not to be. Thank you for a very happy stay'. Marg and Edward. April 2015

"A Miner's Rest was the perfect place for our 30th wedding anniversary and thanks for the welcoming champagne and canap├ęs - a very nice surprise. We sat out on the veranda and enjoyed our little 'feast' with a lovely sunset. Good to meet you both too and thanks for your thoughtfulness.' Love, Cathy & Ryan - May 30th 2015

It was freezing cold but thank goodness the cottage wasn't! We were so cosy and warm we mostly called in for dinner instead of going out. Enjoyed your DVD collection and comfy beds and loved Broken Hill's friendly people. We'll be back! David & Rene. Aug 2014

Great house. Nice surroundings. Close to everything. Had a good time. Clay & Summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why stay in a motel! Thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Miner's Rest. The quaint cottage had everything we wanted with wonderful linen, quiet, very clean, off-street parking, covered outside area, functional kitchen - basically a home away from home. Would recommend to couples and families as a great alternative to a motel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So comfortable! From the initial booking, communication to the warm (winter) clean and quiet cottage..we had a lovely time. Every home comfort and item we could need was here. From washing machine & powder, dishwasher, new and varied DVD collection, scissors, sewing kit, butter...i could go on forever. Original cottage was a lovely vintage/retro touch. Broken Hill and Silverton were a great place for art, museums and nature. Then there are all the modern shopping facilities like Target, Big W, Woolworths, Coles for those every day needs. We only just discovered more cafes as we were at the end of our trip. Our highlight was getting our photo taken with the charming artist Jack Absalom who also signed the book and picture we purchsed. We drove from Sydney, stopping overnight at Dubbo. Highly recommended bucket list experience all round!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pure Contentment We were very contented with our choice of cottage. Everything was perfect and we couldn’t think of a thing that was not there for our use. We are history buffs so the historical artifacts were of interest and we thoroughly enjoyed your ‘Yesteryear’ but with our modern comforts. The owners have balanced past and present so effectively to provide a comfortable ambiance, a welcoming cottage , and many extras which were very much appreciated. The spa wasn’t bad either! Our favourite time was sitting out on the back verandah at sunset with a glass of wine – lovely! Will recommend to all our friends! Elise & Sam & Kids

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what we expected Though the cottage had old world charm, the overall feel was needing repair. The bed we slept in was great. We were very disappointed in that the property was advertised as having 4 beds / 3 bedrooms but only had 3 beds in 2 rooms. Just a little awkward for our teenage son that had his female friend travelling with us.
