The kitchen has most basics like coffee / tea / sugar / flour . some herbs / spices/ ketchup and olive oil but if you turn up and find you left that crucial ingredient at home , your chicken has gone off , or you've run out of wine, then pop round and we will see what we can do to help. The cottage has a new TV , DVD player and iPod dock in the lounge are and an old tv / dvd player in the bunk room , but no TV reception or wifi. We are happy to lend DVD's at no charge from our own collection provided they boomerang. Mobile reception in the valley is a hit and miss affair but there is a booster in the new house 120m away from the cottage, and a landline so you can always call / check you mobile / emails there if needed .

There is a minimum two night stay and the basic tariff is assumes 2 couples staying . Kids using the bunk room we basically charge $10 per night .Additional adults $45pn. We are happy to quote for other permutations including one couple only just drop us a line and we will respond asap.
Pizza Oven - we have finished building our pizza oven between the two houses and it’s great , a huge 1.2m internal cooking area , big enough to take a very large roast It takes about 2.5 - 3 hours and a lot of wood to get the internal floor temperature upto the required 400C-450C to cook a pizza in about 90 seconds. And they come out great. The oven will still be hot enough 200C-250C 24 hours later to cook a roast. There is also a large , shall we say , rustic, dining table right next to it so you can dine under the stars . So if ever you fancied having a go using one of these things weather and fire bans permitting we are happy to help and get it fired up ready for you to use over two days.
Pizza bases @$5 each also available we make our own if you simply want to add your own toppings
Dinner option - arriving a bit late and don’t want the hassle of cooking? Subject to enough notice we can often prepare a pretty decent three course meal for you and have ready for you to serve up when you are unpacked . Vegetarian no problem .Happy to provide a few sample menu types but for a start how about Olive Tart, roast chicken with saffron, hazelnuts and honey, chilli salt and fennel pumpkin , garlic sauteed spinach , and sweet and salty cherry crumble cheesecake ? Cost $40ph
The cottage is a really comfortable place to stay and it's hard to describe but everyone that has been here has noted the really relaxing "karma" of the place.
We used it as our weekender for 5 years before committing to build our own place elsewhere on the property . Happy to leave you to enjoy your stay by yourselves , or share what we've learned as city folks who have made the move to the country , built a strawbale home and learned about boys toys , livestock and the rest. Based on our current stockimg density we should be classified as wombat and kangaroo farmers.
We are pet friendly we even have some kennels .
Apart from one small threshold step the cottage is probably wheel chair accessible . Call us to discuss
Things to do
Bird watching birders please contact me for useful links, mountain bike riding , painting / sketching and bush walking are the obvious ones. Glen Davis has the old shale oil works and if you are feeling energetic you can walk the pipline trail to Newnes in the Wolgan Valley ask me if want a lift to the starting point and avoid paying the $2000 a night at the Emirates resort,
In summer there is a lovely safe spot to chill out in the Capertee River 10 mins from here, or 45 mins away Dunn's Swamp which fortunately is nothing like the image the name conjures up. Sandy beaches , deep swimming areas, canoe hire , camping grounds and boat tours.
Nearby Rylestone 45 mins boasts the best dumpling restaurant in NSW yep , weird we know , but true , the world's second best olive oil producer missed out by a tiny fraction on the top slot , a couple of country pubs and the odd collectibles store. Mudgee and Bathurst are both about 75 mins or so . Gulgong fantastic museum , Sofala and Hill End are all within a comfortable day trip.
OR , you could simply sit out on the deck and enjoy a glass or several of your favourite tipple.
Odds n Sods
Basically we want you to enjoy yourselves as our guests . If something is not right , tell us so we can try and put it right. If you need something , want to know something , ask us.
We are on rain water. No chlorine , fluoride or anything else added. But it's our only source of water so please be water wise . That means if you hum in the shower think Beatles rather than Beethoven.
We have not added a cleaning charge to the bill but thats because we expect you to pretty much leave it as you found it . If we have to wash up your sunday roast and the place looks like the aftermath of a bucks party then we reseve the right to charge for breakages and additional cleaning
We will try and be inconspicious for most of your stay , but are on hand if you want to ask us something.
