Views over paddocks of lucerne in one direction, vineyards and more grazing land in the other, not to mention the tropical oasis surrounding the pool, 28 Rocky Waterhole Road is a five-minute drive from Mudgee city centre. The energetic can cycle to town or hit the tennis court; the nearest winery is about 600 metres away, as the crow flies.
A huge two storey house, big north-facing verandah, chic open-plan living area and four queen bedrooms upstairs, and one downstairs, 28 Rocky Waterhole Road is so close to town, but you feel like you're miles from everywhere Only the property's dog, a friendly labrador called Nelson, keeps an eye on visitors. And the pool.......14 metres long, surrounded by palms and its own fabulous entertaining area. Two bathrooms cater adequately for large groups.
The living areas have picture windows framing the stunning outlook, white walls on which modern art hangs, a central kitchen and separate dining table. The two lounge areas have comfortable lounges and armchairs, a sofa bed and a cosy nook in front of the huge open fireplace.
All-new stainless steel appliances, plenty of crockery, cutlery and kitchenware, wine glasses of course, a TV with excellent reception, and DVD player with a small selection of movies. Tennis court racquets and balls are provided, - BYO pushbikes.
Each bedroom at 28 Rocky Waterhole Road has a queen-size bed dressed with quality linen, with extra blankets at hand, and plenty of hanging space and drawers. The views from every room are amazing. A single day bed and double sofa bed are more than adequate for larger groups. In the bathrooms are plenty of towels and body wash products. The verandas are set up with comfort in mind, too: barbecue and plenty of seating to capture the amazing sunsets.
Despite being a self-contained stay, fresh milk, tea and coffee are on hand - a big bowl of fresh eggs, but only when the hens are laying
WORTH STEPPING OUT FOR
Moothi Estate is at 85 Rocky Waterhole Road; that is, across the road and up the hill. The cellar door has a large tasting area with seating overlooking the vines . Mudgee has more than 40 cellar doors and a wealth of restaurants and cafes, as well as the farmers' market, so visitors are spoilt for choice.
A very well-appointed stay and a great base from which to explore the region. with family and friends.
HOW TO GET THERE
From Sydney, take the Great Western Highway or Bells Line of Road, then the Castlereagh Highway. Turn right onto Rocky Waterhole Road just before the Mudgee town limit.
