Nestled into the hills and boasting breathtaking views "Shingleback Ridge" cottage is perfectly located,for a relaxing get away ,located 20 kms north of Mudgee town it is close to many of the best Mudgee wineries.

Shingleback Ridge has three bedrooms comprising of a Queen ,Double and three single beds. The open kitchen/dining adjoins a spacious yet cozy lounge room with open wood fire. The living and dining areas spill out onto the full length verandah which is the perfect place to see the sun go down after a full day of discovering the delights that the Mudgee/Gulgong area offer. As the sun sets you will experience the wonderful opportunity to discover the Milky way in all its splendour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic property One of the most enjoyable properties we have stayed in - the views are amazing and the surrounding land is really fun to explore - the kids spent most of their time outside jumping on the boulders. We were visited by kangaroos and the drive into Mudgee is not far. The hot water is a little temperamental but this didn't bother us - we just spaced out our showers! We would definitely go back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fabulous stay! Great family stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Secluded location in a beautiful location. The house was a lovely stay for our family. Only suggestion would another lounge area downstairs to enjoy the fire. We loved it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Easter break We stayed Easter 2016, 2 couples and 3 children aged 6 to 10. Fabulous view. Children disappeared to climb the boulders on the property for hours on end. Well stocked pantry. Good standard of furnishings. Had a great time. Solitude and lack of WiFi was positive. Note: It is 25min to 30min drive to Mudgee. Hint, If you light the fire open the flu, lever on the left.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value My Wife and our two young children recently stayed with some friends and their two children in this house for two nights, and could not have asked for better accomodation. Set on a rocky ridge, the house's position offers commanding views of sunbleached paddocks, with olive groves, grazing cattle and sheep, and glimpses of Ulan road stretching off toward Mudgee and the hills beyond. Driving up an intimidating (but actually quite easily-traversed) dirt driveway, you come upon the house hidden up behind a stand of trees, and park undercover in a carport behind the house where a cleverly-arranged series of reveals await. On unlocking the door to the back porch, you slide open some panelled doors to reveal a large, open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, replete with open-hearth fireplace and island benchtop in the kitchen. Then, on pulling back the curtains on the two double-doors, you are granted access to the large verandah and its stunning views (a third set of french doors provides access from the main bedroom). It is here, invariably, where most will spend their time, whether it be while enjoying a quiet morning coffee and watching the mist burn off the paddocks below, or perhaps some wine and cheese in the afternoon listening to the birdlife, or even watching the sunset and the first twinklings of stars as they appear, uncorrupted by city lights. With two queen beds, both couples were amply and comfortably accomodated, and our children slept well in their shared room. The living area is spacious and light-filled, the kitchen is kitted out with several serving bowls, pots and pans, and the owners had provided a selection of spices, oils and vinegars, and even a small garden with some capsicum, chilli and rosemary. The use of solar-power and LPG on the property has dictated the lack of a toaster, microwave or kettle, which requires a bit of an adjustment, but there is a stovetop kettle, and the grill and oven work quickly and efficiently. The bathroom is large, clean, and well lit, and soap, shampoo and conditioner are all provided, the only catch here being that guests should be mindful of the limited hot-water supply. I would not hesitate in recommending this property to anyone looking for a relaxing stay near Mudgee or Gulgong. The setting is tranquil, the views mesmerising, and the location very convenient for exploring the area. Thank you again to our wonderful hosts.
