The “Captain's cottage” is a beautifully maintained, two bedroom 114-year-old miners cottage located in the trendy suburb of Islington. Within walking distance are a wide range of antique & boutique shops, cafes, bakeries, a hip barber shop, supermarkets and pubs. Down the end of the street is a park with shaded children’s play equipment and a cycle path that weaves its way along Throsby creek past the fish market all the way into the foreshore and beaches.
The cottage has 2 large bedrooms with ceiling fans and a comfortable living room with reverse cycle air conditioning & two lounges. The kitchen is small but well equipped with gas stovetop and oven, a microwave, fridge and washing machine. There is a tidy indoor bathroom with shower but if you prefer to bathe al fresco there is a vintage claw foot bath on the back verandah connected to the mains water and perfect for enjoying the sunset or watching the moon rise surrounded by treetops.
The house has been simply and thoughtfully decorated with new and vintage wares. There are two queen beds, both are very comfortable and have quality linen, duvets and pillows. If you find yourself wanting something to do there are books and games and we are close by if you need suggestions on what to do in and around Newcastle.
You are welcome to use all parts of the house and garden. There is no off-street parking so it’s best to leave your car on George Street which is just around the corner.
