Description

Turnbull Cottage is a delightful 1920's weatherboard house in a quiet street in Hamilton South. It has been professionally renovated to a high standard whilst retaining original features such as polished timber floors, fireplace and beautiful pressed metal ceilings.

The property is perfect for families, couples or a group of friends. There are 3 bedrooms: the main has a queen bed, ensuite and walk-in wardrobe; the second has a double bed with a study area attached. The third bedroom is ideal for children with twin beds and its own TV + DVD. The lounge room has a gas fireplace. There is a large dining room. The kitchen is well appointed with a dishwasher. The main bathroom has a bathtub. The undercover timber deck is north-facing and is ideal for entertaining. There is an outdoor setting and BBQ. The back yard is fully fenced. Pets are allowed by prior arrangement.

Turnbull Cottage is conveniently situated close to The Junction, Hamilton's multi-cultural Beaumont Streey, Darby Street, the CBD, Honeysuckle, local shopping centres as well as Newcastle's stunning beaches and ocean baths.Turnbull Cottage is 3 kilometers to the Entertainment Centre and major sporting arenas. Large,undercover shopping centres including Charlestown Square and Westfield Kotara are a 10 minute drive or bus trip away. It is also a 10 minute drive to Blackbutt Reserve, where you can get up close to kangaroos, koalas and emus. The cottage is a few minutes drive to railway stations. There is a public bus stop about 100 metres from the cottage which provides a service to MarketTown shopping centre and the CBD.

Newcastle has recently been voted in the top 10 cities of the world by Lonely Planet. It offers great restaurants, cafes and trendy boutiques in Beaumont Street, Darby Street, Honeysuckle and the Harbour Foreshore, Hunter Street Mall and The Junction. Entertainment can be found at live theatres, the Newcastle Region Art Gallery, the Entertainment Centre and the Maritime and Regional Museums. Newcastle has many stunning beaches within 3 km of Turnbull Cottage and ocean baths at both Newcastle Beach and Merewether Beach. The beaches are great for family fun and are patrolled by surf lifesavers from October to March. It is a 50 minute drive to Port Stephens where whale and dolphin watching cruises can be taken. The Hunter Valley vineyards are a 45 minute drive away. Other activities include golf Horizons and Cypress Lake courses, antique browsing in Islington, Mayfield and the Centenary Centre, outdoor markets, bushwalking at Blackbutt Reserve, sailing on beautiful Lake Macquarie Australia's largest coastal saltwater lake, discovering historic Fort Scratchley and the Bathers Way, a 5km coastal walk from Nobbys Beach to Merewether.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great house, perfect location! My partner and I have stayed at Turnbull Cottage with our 2 dogs on 3 separate occasions now. Having lots of family in Newcastle we make regular trips and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. The house itself is always very clean, has tons of character and space. The deck is particularly great for dinner and enjoying the beautiful Newcastle weather! The yard is a very good size and totally dog proof and our dogs are very safe and happy running around outside. It's also a short walk to Beaumont Street that has plenty of great restaurants, cool bars, pubs and shops. I highly recommend Turnbull Cottage for your Newcastle getaway - great place, great location!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lovely home, not so lovely owner! After the owner played bidding wars between myself and other enquirers, then bumping the price up to over 50% the advertised nightly rate - we were already left with a bitter taste. We asked if we could please arrive around lunch time, however were advised that this would not be possible, as the owner had to get the home organised. We asked for the address via email a couple of times on Friday, however did not receive any correspondence. After phoning late on Friday we finally received address. The home itself is very lovely, with a nice backyard, and situated extremely close to town. Having the home listed as having WiFi, we emailed the owner, a further few times on Friday, requesting the password, however we did not receive any correspondence over the course of the weekend. Come Sunday, we had all woken up and were enjoying a late breakfast in the home, in our PJ's (at 10:30 am), when the owner decides to walk into the property and demand we all leave immediately so she is able to clean. We advised the owner that we were not made aware of a check-out time, and wondered if we could have 15 minutes to tidy up the kitchen and pack things. This request was denied, and the owner proceeded to push past us into the bedrooms, requesting we remove ourselves. We continued to tidy the kitchen and pack our things, whilst the owner cleaned around us. We understand the owner needs to clean and prepare the property for the next guests, however to not have been given any correspondence about check out times, and deny us 15 minutes extra to get organised is very unprofessional, and left us all feeling extremely uncomfortable - with half of us not even having showers, or finishing our breakfast.
