Catherine Hill Bay (our favourite local beach). There are 3 parking areas – first at the Surf Club, then just before the hill & lastly beside the cemetery. The northern end is our preferred end. It is ever changing with the tide & weather & we enjoy swimming there. There is also a rock platform to explore (take thongs or similar as it is rough underfoot). The southern end is patrolled by life savers in season. Catho Pub is a popular place to visit. They have live music on Sunday afternoons (Saturday afternoons in summer). It is a favourite place for bikies & families alike.
Munmorah State Conservation Area. Frazer Beach is another favourite beach (patrolled in season) & we love walking along the rocks to Gravelly Beach ideally at a lowish tide (again take thongs). The view from Wybung Head is spectacular. There is also nudist Birdie Beach. Park entry fees apply.
Budgewoi Beach (encompassing also Birdie Beach to the north & Lakes Beach to south- patrolled) is a really long beach that is lovely to stroll along.
