Description

The Thirroul Beach House is one of the most impressive properties in the Illawarra. This two-storey architecturally designed home is perched above and overlooking Thirroul beach, just meters from the sand and surf. Let the sound of the waves lull you into a peaceful state – relax, unwind and soak in the stunning coastal and escarpment views.

Easily sleeping 10, and with generous living and sleeping spaces, it is the perfect place for you and your family to reconnect, relax and unwind.

The best bits

Unparalleled and stunning views of Thirroul Beach, the Illawarra coast line, 5 Islands, and the escarpment. Take a sundowner out on the deck and watch the sky turn pink, or the many surfers grabbing the last waves of the day. Dolphins are regularly spotted, and of course whales in the whale season.

5 minute walk to the sand and surf – we love the private northern end of Thirroul Beach just under the house to escape the crowds. Or stroll up the beach a little further for the patrolled area - the outdoor ocean pool with separate covered toddler pool and huge kids playground are all in the same vicinity.

The well designed spaces give you so many options to come together or spread out; play or relax. 2 living room areas, 3 outdoor deck areas, 2 garden areas. The highlight is the luxurious deck overlooking the ocean leading out from the kitchen, living and dining area.

Enjoy a coffee in the morning and watch the sun rise over the ocean. As the day warms up you’re protected by shade – perfect for sitting out and enjoying a long lazy lunch, while you wave at the kids down on the beach

Fresh eggs in the morning Make friends with our 3 resident chickens and enjoy eggs as fresh as they get. We arrange for someone to feed and water the chickens daily so you don’t have to worry.

So many restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from, all within walking distance.

The house

4 double bedrooms, 2 with ensuites, all with ocean views. All bedrooms are generously sized, and have remote controlled ceiling fans. Two bedrooms lead out onto a deck overlooking the ocean. Perfect for a morning yoga session, reading a book or relaxing with cup of tea.

Open plan kitchen, living and dining area, opening out to a large deck on the ocean side, and to a large enclosed garden on the other side.

The well-appointed kitchen includes gas stove, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge. Coffee machine with coffee beans provided. Huge timber island bench is the perfect place to sit, chat and prepare meals. Condiments like salt, pepper and oil are included and those little things that make a difference like glad wrap, foil, paper towel, tea towels are available for you.

The enclosed garden is a kid’s delight – in-ground trampoline, mini slippery slide, outdoor shower with hot water to wash off after your busy day at the beach. Kick the footy or line up a game of backyard cricket.

Kids playroom – well stocked with toys, books and games. The playroom has a double sofa bed. 4 bathrooms - 1 main bathroom with shower and bath, 2 ensuites and 1 downstairs WC. The eastern outdoor deck has a dining table. It also has arm chairs to relax and soak in the view. Or lay on the grass on your beach towel and watch the waves crash, and breathe in the ocean air.

Eco friendly house

Thirroul Beach House is designed to be energy efficient and eco-friendly. The double glazing and high grade insulation keeps the house at an even temperature throughout the year. There’s no need for air conditioning in the summer, as the architectural eaves above the doors and windows are designed to protect the house from the hot sun, and the large sliding doors in the living spaces open to make the most of the cross breezes from the ocean. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms keep you cool if it’s a warm still night. In winter, the sunshine warms the internal spaces, keeping the house cosy, without the need for central heating. The house is installed with solar panels to further reduce the carbon footprint. Tank water is used for toilets and the garden. Save your food scraps for the chickens, and all other green waste can go to the compost bin.
