Hillston's only official backpacker accommodation, welcomes travellers, seasonal workers, families, company reps and tradies to enjoy great value for money in a CLEAN and friendly environment.
Currently offering 8 secure rooms with 4 people per room, (2 double bunks per room) we can accommodate 32 people inside the recently refurbished Hillston Masonic Lodge.
Coming soon is en-suited private rooms, catering for couples or twin singles. This will allow our total capacity to accommodate 68 people at one time, making us Hillston's largest accommodation provider.
We look forward to offering our premises to contractors with large teams, so that everyone can stay together, work together and be easier to manage, especially if transport is an issue, as there is no public transport to and from Hillston to Griffith.
At the Hillston Backpackers, there is everything that you need. With all linen provided, there are cups and plates, knives and forks, pots and pans, even muffin and cake tins if you feel so inclined to cook up a storm.
For those international visitors, rice cookers and woks are also available, along with slow cookers,sandwich toasters, juicers and mixers and a good old Aussie BBQ or two.
All you need to bring is your towel and toiletries, some washing liquid for using our washing machines and what ever food you like, making it an affordable, great value for money place to stay.
Don' t worry if the weather turns nasty, there are plenty of board games, card games, books and magazines to use as well as DVD movies galore.
Perhaps you would like to tinker at the piano or organ, strum a guitar and encourage a sing a long with your fellow guests in the lounge room, either way, there is plenty of things to do but there is also FREE WI-FI available to our staying guests.
At Hillston Backpackers, our policy is "No pay, no stay" and we require payment in advance. Cash or EFTPOS are available and a key deposit of $50 is required but fully refunded once you leave the room in good condition and give back the room key.
Please note that whilst we strive to have the best possible place for people from all over the world to stay, feel comfortable and safe, and enjoy their time here whilst working in the area, at Hillston Backpackers we have a NO ILLEGAL DRUGS TO BE USED ON OUR PREMISES.
Remember that native wildlife, especially kangaroos, can be a real problem on our roads,especially at dawn and dusk, so drive carefully when coming to Hillston.
It is a long way to Hillston from all capital cities and fatigue related crashes are a major causeof death or serious injury on our Outback roads. Make sure you leave plenty of time to get here, Sydney and Melbourne are at least 8 hours drive away, so take lots of breaks and rest during your journey here.
Hillston is where the "Lachlan River meets the Outback". and is classified as a remote location for your 88 days/ second year visa. There is a lot of produce grown here, during most months of the year, including citrus, olives, cherries, cotton, grains, potatoes and garlic.
Whilst we do not offer work as such, as we are not contractors, we have many contacts on many of the farms in the area and are happy to help you find your job.
