Emerging Food destination

The Tamworth region, with its abundance of rich soils, pristine waterways and varied geography, is quickly emerging as an outstanding food-and-wine destination for visitors from NSW and beyond.

Already regarded as the nation’s Country Music Capital, Tamworth offers country music and so much more.

Tamworth is home to a diversity of cuisines ranging from fresh organic produce found at the quintessentially French Le Pruneau market and restaurant to the tender water buffalo steaks produced at the Kitty Crawford Estate. Pure Australian Bush Honey is farmed in the nearby Nemingha Hills, and the region is home to a number of boutique vineyards establishing a firm footing on the cool-climate stage.

Taste Tamworth Festival

The annual Taste Tamworth Festival has become an important date on the Australian culinary calendar. For ten days, Tamworth and surrounding regions showcase the best in local food and produce around April/May.

The event includes an array of attractions, including the city’s annual ‘pop-up bar’ – where a character-filled laneway is transformed into a funky vintage bar. The Long Lunch is a unique fine-dining experience with local chefs combining their skills to create a five-course menu using the best in fresh local produce.

Visitors and locals converge upon the city’s Bicentennial Park for the annual Taste in the Park – a day of local produce, tasting plates, live music and children’s activities.

Around the region the Farm Gate Trail is open all year round with special tasting sessions, market days, honey production tours and live music.

Whether it’s the annual Taste Festival or a seasonal visit – there are always fresh country experiences to taste, drink and enjoy in Tamworth.
