Located just one kilometre from the picturesque township of Dorrigo, on a sealed road, it is the perfect base to explore the beautiful Dorrigo Plateau.
Tallawalla Retreat is a traditional style Bed and Breakfast; there are no cooking facilities available for guest use. There are four Ensuite Rooms at Tallawalla, each with Queen Size Beds One larger room has an extra 2 single beds and fold down futon - perfect for an extended family.
Guest areas includes a large lounge area and large dining room, both with wood fired heaters to keep you snug and warm during the cold winter months.

Panoramic views across the Dorrigo Plateau can be enjoyed from the garden, which is home to over 85 native bird species, including kookaburras, blue wrens, tawny frogmouth owls, magpies, satin bower birds, red-lobed wattle birds, king parrots, crimson rosellas and many others. Our satin bower birds have a 'bower' in the garden, complete with blue objects. We also have a private rainforest adjacent to the garden, with walking trails.
On arrival you will be greeted with afternoon tea - usually hot scones with jam and cream - served in the dining room which offers panoramic views across the Dorrigo Plateau.
Guests may stroll around the grounds, enjoy a home cooked dinner by arrangement whilst soaking up the tranquil ambience and peacefulness that Tallawalla Retreat offers.

Dorrigo National Park, just a few minute's drive from Tallawalla, is Australia's most accessible National Park.... park your car right at the door, and enjoy the Skywalk, "Walk with the Birds" trail, or hike along the 6 km "Wonga Trail", passing by two amazing water falls.

Picnic Tables and BBQ facilities are located at the park, as well as a shop, Interpretive Centre and Coffee Shop.
Griffiths Lookout, situated on the edge of the escarpment, offers spectacular vistas to the coast - on a clear day you can see the breakers rolling into the beach. Several picnic tables are provided for day visitors.
Seven World Heritage Areas are located within one hour's drive of Tallawalla Retreat offering the visitor to the area a variety of native flora and fauna.
Cathedral Rock National Park, New England National Park and Chalundei Picnic Area offer unique walking trails and picnic areas.
The Norman Jolly Memorial Grove is a unique stand of Tallowwood Trees with walking trail and picnic area.
Dangar Falls is located 2 km from the centre of town - a popular swimming spot for locals during warm weather.
