Feel the serenity of the magical oasis as soon as you turn off the street and enter the long driveway up to the house.

Step back in time and feel the colonial spirit of the region as you turn off the Pacific Highway and 4 minutes later drive over the river and enter the charming village of Kendall, the entrance to the beautiful Lorne Valley and its forest Parks. The Kendall Rectory in the centre of the village is tucked privately away behind mature, thoughtful gardens an early century English landscaper would be envious of.

This charming, grand old home is surrounded by 3000 square metres of park-like gardens, a stunning array of flora, pathways, fountains and views beyond. Sitting on the wide, old verandahs with the featured cast iron fountain bubbling away, one can be taken back to another era of living in the charming surrounds.

Light and open, our home features 11 ft ceilings and original restored and polished mahogany floorboards throughout. Built around 1910 it has been lovingly maintained and updated for contemporary living. Other historical features include an open fireplace and hand-milled cathedral doors, reflecting the home's past as the former Kendall Rectory.

Generously large bedrooms feature double French doors leading onto wide verandahs which overlook the established gardens affording this property both tranquility and privacy or ample space to entertain in a bygone style amongst the gardens.

A separate studio building approximately 15 metres from the house with floating bamboo floor boards, currently set up as a kids rumpus room is equally charming, nestled in the garden and a great location to give you peace while your children have a blast. We have ample off-street parking for up to ten cars alongside a long driveway approaching the home.

It feels like you could be anywhere in this private oasis but you are only 6 minutes drive from Lakewood shopping village and 11 minutes drive from North Haven with it's beautiful beaches, cafes and restaurants and 30 minutes from Port Macquarie, Taree and Wauchope. With a choice of beaches, rivers, national parks and forestry trails only minutes away, you have the best of the coast and country at your doorstep.

The Kendall Rectory is in the heart of Kendall village. It is a tiny village with a big warm heart and you will be refreshed with the open natured and friendly manners of the locals.

CLUB: Along the same road and about 600 metres away is the Kendall Services Club which serves food daily, has a fully licensed bar and seating areas both inside and outside on a shaded decking overlooking the River.

TENNIS / SWIMMING POOL: Next door to the Services Club is the Kendall Tennis Club. Opposite the Tennis Club is the Kendall Community swimming pool equipped with gas BBQ facilities, a baby pool, toddler pool and large adult pool. A beautiful place to spend a warm afternoon.

SHOPS: Kendall also has a Bottlo, a general store, a takeaway shop and a post office.

CAFE: Miss Nellies coffee shop and cafe is in town and is punching well above its weight as one of the best spots for miles to have high tea or enjoy quality coffee and home baked cakes and scones. Check trip advisor for impartial reviews.


Cassegrain Winery and Restaurant close to Port Macquarie produces excellent wines and wine tasting and provide an excellent dining experience. Casual picnics and BBQ's are also available within their gardens which provides a treat of a day out.

The Innes Lake Vineyards on the edge of Port Macquarie also provide excellent tasting, produce and dining at their Little Fish Cafe restaurant. another first class afternoon out.

About us and our caretaker

We are a family of mum, dad and three kids.

We live in Ireland so our caretaker is your first place of contact while in our home. They live a 5 minute drive away and after the booking is made we will introduce you to them and provide all of their contact details. They will be able to assist you with practicalities within the home as well as recommend to you any local places worth visiting and day trips worth doing.

We use the place as our own home for several months each year so you will find it well equipped with everything you need and above the usual standard of a holiday home.

We can also recommend local people for babysitting that we personally use should you have the need.

TRAIN: Kendall Train station is on the main North South line for the XPT from Sydney. Our caretaker is more than happy to collect you from the train station and drop you off should you opt to travel by train. This is a highly recommended journey passing some stunning scenery along the way in the comfort of your air-conditioned carriage. Check the NSW train link site for online schedules and bookings.

DRIVE: From Sydney approximately 3:45 northbound along completely upgraded, dual lane Pacific Highway. Ample rest stop opportunities: cafes, restaurants, fuel stops, towns.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great property! Timeless and beautiful Beautiful and immaculately kept, this historical home is large, architecturally interesting, well appointed and has a wonderful garden. Perfect for families it even has a separate rumpus/yoga/home office outbuilding that you can set up as you please. Each of the three bedrooms were spacious and had wonderful views. Perfect for an extended stay when visiting Camden Haven, Port Macquarie and the surrounding areas. Note though when visiting during winter you will want to request space heaters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely house in gorgeous grounds Family of 4 with 2 boys. Loved our stay at the Rectory. Beautiful house with lots of space both inside and out. Very comfortable beds with quality linen. Kitchen equipped with all you need to self cater with 2 supermarkets within 10 mins drive. Open wood fire with well stocked wood shed for cooler evenings. A real home from home. We would return happily to this lovely house.
