After the perfect couples retreat away from the hustle and bustle of your day-to-day life? Then this charming beach cottage at Red Rock is the answer

34 Schafer Street is an ecologically friendly cottage that respects the close proximity of protected heathlands and the Corindi River estuary which are at risk of pollution from the town's many aging septic tanks.

The house's only source of water is rainwater.

Kitchen and shower water are recycled to irrigate the garden. Only greywater-safe detergents, soaps and other products can be used

To reduce waste water to near zero, the house utilises an outdoor, state-of-the-art waterless, composting toilet.

Basically, a 21st century version of your nana's outhouse without the telephone book, smells or spiders.

Featuring two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other a single, a sunroom with a single day bed, cute, clean and compact kitchen and bathroom, and living area opening onto the large entertaining deck - this is the ideal weekend getaway

The whole house has been recently renovated and features a fireplace to warm up on those chilly winter nights while still taking advantage of the area's comfortable winter climate during the day with a spot of fishing, bowls or beach walking.

In summer you are spoilt for choice from boating or fishing on the river, to swimming at the beach, relaxing by the water edge or floating down the river at high tide.

Renovated with your furry companion in mind the owners welcome outside pets with a fully enclosed yard and undercover deck at the rear.

Ideal for couples and small families, the property features a queen and single bed in the two bedrooms, plus a single day bed situated in the sun room/dining room for a fourth guest if required.

PLEASE NOTE: This property strictly sleeps a maximum of 4 guests with one queen bed, one single bed and a single day bed in the sunroom. OVERCROWDING WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION AND LOSS OF BOND The property is not equipped to deal with more than 4 guests due to septic system limitations & use of tank water.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from a quaint little cottage but needs attention The cleanliness of this cottage was extremely poor. A lot of cleaning required before using utensils etc. the only heating was a wood fire and no wood supplied therefore each day included collecting wood to burn to stay warm. Agents notified and agreed to seek help but did not even reply. A lovely area but will not return to 34 Schafer st.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Property - very good location We enjoyed our stay - everything is great except for the cane lounge chairs - not comfortable

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great location Cute little house in great position. Extremely clean and has everything you need. Great deck at the back. However... 1. 2nd bedroom is tiny and has no door, only a curtain separating it from the kitchen. 2. The lounge is a frail cane lounge so definitely not for relaxing 3. Had to pick the key up and drop it off at Woolgoolga...which adds on to a very long drive from Qld. All other houses we've stayed at have had a key safe on the premises.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable Great house but driveway and entrance not user friendly, especially when raining- overhanging trees, bird/bat poo all over car every morning- ?where else to park
