As you drive up to the Bulga Plateau on your way to the cottage you may want to do some shopping at the lovely country town of Wingham. However, there is a shop in the village of Elands which serves takeaways, wine and beer as well as some groceries, including local farm produce. Also, Ellenborough falls cafe is open on the weekends and during the school holidays. Friday is 'fresh falls Friday' where local produce is served by way of home made pies, salads, rolls, cakes and tarts. You can also get soft drinks, tea and coffee. The falls are only 5 minutes drive from the cottage and hold the distinction of being the 2nd highest free fall waterfall in the southern hemisphere. At over 200 metres the falls are a must during your stay. You can descend into the Ellenborough gorge to swim, hike and view the falls from below. A few minutes down the road is the 'oxygen farm'. This parcel of land has been protected by a number of conservationists. You are free to walk this area and enjoy its beauty. Further down the road, approximately 20 minutes drive is the village of Combyne. There is a lovely cafe and a stream flows through the middle of the village.
As Cascades Cottage is located in an area surrounded by national parks it is recommended that when you are walking on the property you wear appropriate foot wear such as boots. We welcome your pets but please keep dogs under control by leashing them while walking in the back paddocks - they can run free near the cottage as long as they obey commands to come back. Please don't let dogs chase the wild life or any farm animals. Pets are welcome to stay indoors in the lounge room during the night - no pets in the bedrooms please.
