Description

Brolga Park

Is situated on a 200+ acre mixed farm with Sugar Cane, Cattle, Sheep and mixed seasonal cropping. The Homestead is Private, consisting of an Elevated Modern 2 Bedroom Farm House with wide Verandas on all 4 sides and an exceptional rural outlook over the property and Sportsman's Creek. The Main Bedroom has a Queen bed while the second Bedroom has a single and trundle with an additional mattress if required. There is a well equipped Kitchen with Granite Benchtops and a wood fire for the 6 week winter. Pets and even Horses may be accommodated with prior approval by owner required.

Sportsman's Creek leads directly into the Clarence River and is suitable for water sports, Fishing, Canoeing, Jet skies or Water Skiing. There is a weir located with 200 meters of the house and in the summer months Dolphins travel the creek to this point along with most saltwater fish species, while above the weir freshwater species such as Australian Bass are targeted by anglers.

The property also adjoins the Everlasting Swamp State Conservation Area that was created in February 2014. It covers an area of over 1100 acres and contains fishing spots and depending on seasonal influence abundant and diversified bird life with Eagles, Hawks, Black Swans, Brolgas and Jabirus. The Everlasting Swamp is a nationally significant water bird habitat, listed in 1978 on the Register of the National Estate. The swamp contains a variety of habitats for wetland birds featuring large deep pools, broad areas of shallow water, large stands of rushes and Casuarina forest.

LAWRENCE - approximately 4 kilometres 5 minutes with a very popular Tavern which serves Great Meals and ice cold refreshments, General Store, Post Office, Police Station, 9 Hole Golf Course where visitors are very welcome, Local Historical Museum and Tennis Courts.

MACLEAN - approximately 20 kilometres 20 minutes is a delightful town on the banks of the beautiful Clarence River, Maclean celebrates its Scottish heritage with the Maclean Tartan Power Poles – more than 200 power poles painted in family tartans - and the Highland Gathering, a festival held every Easter for more than 110 years. The charming town centre has lovely boutiques and cafes and restaurants serving fresh local produce.

GRAFTON - approximately 30 kilometres 20 minutes is a Tree-lined elegant township of colonial buildings, Jacaranda trees, Giant Fig trees and the Clarence River. Enjoy festivals including the Jacaranda Festival November Spring Racing Carnival July, heritage walks and quality restaurants in this regional city, a gateway to spectacular national parks.

Everlasting Swamp National Park and State Conservation Area

• The park protects the majority of the Everlasting Swamp which is of one of the largest remaining coastal floodplain freshwater wetlands in New South Wales. • The wetlands of the Clarence Floodplain, including the Everlasting Swamp, are habitat for a large number of wetland birds listed on migratory bird agreements. • The parks include significant feeding and breeding grounds for a number of threatened birds including the endangered black-necked stork Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus and the vulnerable brolga Grus rubicunda, magpie goose Anseranas semipalmata, eastern osprey Pandion cristatus, comb-crested jacana Irediparra gallinacea and black-tailed godwit Limosa limosa.

Statement of Management Intent: Everlasting Swamp National Park and SCA

• Everlasting Swamp includes the largest concentrations of brolga in the Clarence Floodplain and has supported some of the largest flocks seen in New South Wales in recent years. It is also the largest breeding area for black swans Cygnus atratus in the Clarence Valley. • Three vegetation communities in the park are considered part of endangered ecological communities EECs listed in New South Wales: Freshwater Wetlands on Coastal Floodplains of the NSW North Coast, Sydney Basin and South East Corner Bioregions; Swamp Oak Floodplain Forest of the NSW North Coast, Sydney Basin and South East Corner Bioregions; Swamp Sclerophyll Forest on Coastal Floodplains of the NSW North Coast, Sydney Basin and South East Corner Bioregions. • A diverse system of wetland vegetation types include forests of swamp oak Casuarina glauca and tea-tree Melaleuca linariifolia and Melaleuca quinquenervia, rushland mainly of Cyperus polystachyos, Eleocharis equisetina and Juncus spp. and freshwater meadows of water couch Paspalum distichum. Approximately 80 of the floodplain extent of Eleocharis equisetina rushland in the lower Clarence is found at Everlasting Swamp. The vulnerable herb, Maundia triglochinoides, has been recorded in the national park. • The immense birdlife that frequents the area makes it potentially an attractive tourist location and educational resource.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful country setting We really enjoyed the house. As we approached the cows were mooing on one side and the river on the other side. Very clean, lovely farmhouse features, wooden floors and with all the amenities. It was hard to choose which view side on the veranda to have the glass of wine!
