"BONZA BAMBOO" hideaway is an amazing 170m2, 1 bedroom house on 2 levels, both with balconies offering multiple spaces to relax. Featuring Asian-inspired décor and design this beautifully hand crafted house offers a tropical getaway.
This accommodation is not suitable for children.
It is a secluded but conveniently located 167-acre bamboo farm in the north of the Byron Shire; 30 km from Byron Bay; 5 km from the Pacific Highway and 35 minutes to the Gold Coast airport. Brisbane is 2 hours away. Guests enjoy all modern facilities in a tranquil setting.
Easy access to beaches, national parks, Byron Bluesfest, Splendour in the Grass, Mullum Music Festival and much more.
The tropical garden atmosphere with giant bamboos and palm trees is the backdrop for our Asian inspired "Bali Building".
This unique hand crafted building is furnished with all sorts of wonderful things that we have made from bamboo and recycled materials, from lamps to tables to couches. You can relax on the 2nd storey verandah overlooking the bamboo plantation or get comfortable with a book on the generous bamboo couches downstairs.
Upstairs accommodation includes 1 large bedroom with a queen size bed in the main area and a cosy loft at one end with a double bed. The bedroom opens out onto a beautiful verandah overlooking the bamboo plantation with built in day beds for those wanting a relaxing, peaceful break.
Downstairs there's a spacious lounge room, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, a bathroom with a shower and a separate toilet. There's another verandah off the kitchen area also overlooking the bamboo plantation, a great spot to relax and chat.
There's a ceiling fan in the upstairs bedroom and we have several pedestal fans available for those extra hot days.
We provide tea and coffee, bread, butter, a variety of spreads and muesli. For those who want to cook we'll provide the basic condiments and there will be seasonally fresh herbs from the garden.
The hosts' living space and the original farmhouse is close by but still private.
Guests MUST let host know if they are going to have visitors on the property. If they wish their visitor to stay overnight they MUST first see if this is suitable for the host and payment of $50.00 per person per night will be payable in cash on arrival.
We do not get mobile phone or TV reception on the property. Wireless Internet is available but can be "patchy" at times because of the distance we are from the Exchange. There is a TV and a DVD player if you wish to bring along your favourite movies or borrow some of ours.
Please bring along slippers or soft shoes to use in the house.
A torch would be handy if you are going out at night.
This is a rural property and access is from The Pocket Rd through our neighbour's cattle property on an unsealed road. The road is maintained regularly but can be damaged in spots after severe weather. It is passable in a conventional vehicle. In the interests of your vehicle and the maintenance of the road it is very important to drive slowly no more than 20 kph and look out for cows, calves and cow poo on the road. Occasionally gates will be closed between paddocks so please close them again after you have driven through.
Please note that we are not on town water; we provide filtered water for drinking and rain water for general use. We have a solar hot water system.
Eating out? Stop at the historic Billinudgel pub only 5 km away for a drink in the beer garden or a tasty meal. Catch some live entertainment on the weekend or you can eat at Billi Indian restaurant in the evening. Brunswick Heads, 9 km away, has a variety of restaurants and cafes and the Brunswick Hotel situated across the road from the Brunswick River makes for a fine evening in the beer garden. Have a picnic in the park on the beach and look out for the dolphins.
We enjoy "Calamari and chips" at the The Brunswick Heads Fishing Co-op on the boat harbour, watching the pelicans and the seagulls.
Love music? The Byron Bay Bluesfest, Splendour in the Grass, The Mullum Music Festival and Falls Festival are all close by.
NB. Please follow the directions on how to get here which I will email to you. GPS is not reliable in this area.
