Chateau de Wilder is our family holiday house. It is designed to help you enjoy and appreciate the lifestyle that is living on Jounama Pond on the fringe of the Snowy Mountains. You can stroll through the leafy streets of Talbingo, enjoy many and varied nature walks and water sports or simply sit back and relax with the family. Bring your boat, jet ski, kayak and/or fishing tackle and enjoy the snowy mountains at their best.
Please note that we have yet to fully concrete the driveway and in its current state it is not ideal for reversing larger boats.
The house has 2 living areas - the first one is the family/kitchen/lounge room complete with reverse cycle air conditioning and a covered patio off the 'bunk room'.
For your indoor entertainment, the house contains an HD Digital TV with built-in DVD player and a stereo with cassette and CD player.
The three bedrooms are well appointed with 2 double beds and 2 sets of single bunks. All with electric blankets, doonas, pillows and spare blankets (BYO bed linen and towels please). There is a full bathroom, including a separate toilet and laundry.
The kitchen is clean and practical and includes a dishwasher, cafe series expresso machine, convection/microwave oven and everything you require for a relaxing holiday. Basic food condiments are provided. Stores from pantry may be used on a replacement basis (we rely on your honesty).

Talbingo information and nearby attractions
Famous as the birthplace of Miles Franklin (My Brilliant Career author), Talbingo is surrounded by some of the most inspiring scenery in the Snowy Mountains. At Talbingo Dam you'll enjoy panoramic views of the region as well as superb fishing for brown and rainbow trout. You can even go water-skiing on the dam.
This small country town on the north-western edge of the Snowy Mountains is 42 km from Tumut and 57 km from the Selwyn snow fields. The old town of Talbingo lies under the waters of Jounama Pond, one of the waterways created by the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme.
There are plenty of outdoor activities in and around Talbingo. Yarrangobilly Caves are nearby, on the Snowy Mountains Highway. Don't miss the spectacular limestone formations in the South Glory, Jersey and Jillabenan caves. Inspect Tumut Power Station, go trout-fishing in nearby streams and rivers and bushwalking in state forests. You can even enjoy a dip in the Glory Hole thermal pool at Yarrangobilly Caves or a refreshing swim in the Blue Water Holes just beyond.
For the adventurous, there is mountain climbing and caving and motorbike and 4WD trails galore through the state forest. The region is a water sports paradise in the warmer months and the snowfields are easily accessible through the winter.
There are several places to launch a boat on Blowering Dam and an excellent concrete ramp at Talbingo Dam.
