Here you have it all. A stunning contemporary make-over with beaches nearby. It's quality accommodation at an affordable price. Just 15 minutes from Batemans Bay, the property is on a 1000 meter block surrounded by tall coastal forest. Just sit out on the deck with a book or a glass of wine and take it all in.
We are delighted to announce that we now have a high-speed NBN connection via Telstra. We now provide complimentary WiFi access and streaming of movies via Netflix, and of course free-to-air television.
It's about a 7-minute walk to Cookies Beach for fun with the kids, or otherwise it's a pleasant ten-minute stroll to the northern part of South Durras beach.
Need a break from the kids? They can have their own space downstairs while you enjoy the refinements of the upstairs level. To chill out on a hot day, flick on the reverse cycle air-con and check out the HD TV in the living room.
And for a break from all that relaxation, Batemans Bay, just 15 minutes away, has a good shopping centre, cinema, and some good restaurants looking out on the Clyde estuary.
From the moment you turn off the highway and start driving through the tall coastal forest, you know you have arrived somewhere special - it's the Murramarang National Park. And Durras Lake, on the left as you approach the village, is recognised as one of the few remaining pristine coastal lakes in New South Wales. Walks along the lake's shores give you a chance to experience this area.
For a change of pace, you can explore the more Murramarang Resort, which offers a restaurant, bar and poolside meals, where you can enjoy coffee, a beer or lunch.
The house is located on an elevated 1000 meter block of substantially pristine coastal woodland featuring a canopy of spotted gums and an under-storey dominated by the local burrawangs or cycads. We source 100 of our electricity from renewable sources.
As Durras is located in a highly sensitive ecological region, there are few signs of development. Water is provided by rainwater tanks, and we employ a septic system and greywater recycling.
This doesn't mean you need to give up your creature comforts, though. With a comprehensive make-over just completed, the property features a stylish and well-equipped kitchen, polished wood floors, an extensive deck overlooking the forest setting, and comfortable beds throughout.
The property is on two levels. You have the option to take the upper level only, or both upper and lower levels. For the sake of your privacy, if you choose to take just the upper level, we will leave the lower level unoccupied for the duration of your stay.
This is the main part of the house and it comprises two generous bedrooms with views out to the surrounding tall coastal forest. The main bedroom has a queen bed, while the second bedroom has a double and a single bed. On this level you have a designer kitchen and bathroom, a dining area, and a spacious living area with HD TV and air conditioning. Four sets of sliding doors lead out to a deck which spans the length of the living areas - the ideal place to do some barbecueing or just relax with a book and a glass of wine on one of the banana lounges.
Teenage kids? Let them have their own space downstairs. This area has separate external access, and it includes a bedroom with three single beds, a bathroom/laundry with shower, and separate toilet. A pleasant living room with two comfortable lounges, a TV and DVD player, looks out onto the lower garden.
Sadly we are no longer able to offer dog-friendly accommodation. While most owners take the utmost care to ensure that their pets are well-behaved, the occasional guests who are not so thoughtful have made it impossible for us to continue having dogs. For those guests with pets who have already made bookings we will honour those bookings.
During NSW and ACT long weekends we have a three-night minimum stay.
All beds are provided with linen, mattress protectors, high quality doonas and pillows.
