The property was built in 1996 as a dedicated retreat. It ran very successfully for several years and was then sold to a family, who used it as their country retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney.
Catherine and I purchased the property in 2014 and we are opening it up again to the public.
The property has 3 acres of beautiful gardens and lawns, the rest being left as pristine Lillipilli rainforest. Our western boundary is the local escarpment of Berry Mountain, with its unusual hanging swamp - as a result, we have several waterfalls after any heavy rains.
The room is semi-detached, with 2 private entrances, one leading to a large brick-paved patio and the French door leading out onto the private carport. The room is equipped with an en-suite bathroom, library, writing desk, ceiling fan and slow-combustion wood heater - snuggle up by the fire on a cold night There is a dining table for 2 and comfortable leather recliner chairs for relaxation. A very private semi-detached room with a dedicated carport and separate paved patio. The property is very secluded on beautiful Berry Mountain and comprises 3 acres of amazing gardens and 16 acres of natural rainforest. There is almost no mobile phone or internet coverage and TV reception is variable. However, Foxtel reception is good. There is a DVD player if you wish to bring material to view.
A basket of breakfast provisions is provided daily and outdoor barbecue facilities are provided if you wish to prepare other meals.
The property is situated midway between the beautiful towns of Berry and Kangaroo Valley. There are numerous cafes, restaurants, bakeries, hotels and speciality stores within 20 minutes drive and the larger town of Nowra, with its supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and the Shoalhaven River 30 minutes away by car. Beautiful South Coast beaches are only a 30-40 minute drive and there are numerous wineries nearby.
There are regular local weekend markets selling all manner of foods, clothing and other goods. Local shows are also a feature at certain times of the year.
The property is pet-friendly but you will need to keep your animals secure at all times, as several of the neighbouring properties have livestock and there are large numbers of native birds frequenting our gardens
For bird-lovers, there is a local bird-watching guide available for advance bookings and we have in excess of 120 bird species in our locale. We also have regular visits from the rare Brush-tailed wallaby, kangaroos, wombats and echidnas.
Come and enjoy the serenity.
