Indigo Retreat is a beautiful, private and unique retreat, perfect for inspiring escapes surrounded by the most stunning section of the NSW coast. We believe we provide some of the most beautiful and elegant couple's accommodation on the far south coast.
EXCITING NEWS, ESPECIALLY FOR RETURNING GUESTS: East Lodge has doubled in size It now includes upstairs + downstairs - read on for all the extra inclusions. PLUS we have just opened a second, very quirky and luxurious lodge also with its own private pool - Indigo Retreat West Lodge - check out our new listing on Stayz too.
East Lodge overlooks its own resort style pool on one side, and Murrah Lagoon, beach and ocean on the other. Next to the pool there is a covered outdoor kitchen with teppanyaki style bbq and gas pizza oven, as well as relaxing living space - sunny and warm next to the pool in summer or winter. Upstairs also overlooking the pool is a second outdoor living space with gas Webber bbq, adjoining a terrace with a firepit and woodfired pizza oven.
The main living area has an open Jetmaster fire, off it there is a beautiful sunroom with stunning views and a dedicated TV room with Foxtel and a collection of DVDs.
The lodge has a gorgeous semi-commercial kitchen that will keep anyone interested in making good food very, very happy. It has twin steam ovens, a butler's pantry, zip hot and cold water and a fully equipped pantry with extras such as food processor, cafe grill, rice cooker and juicer.
We provide you a bottle of champagne, treats, a collection of gourmet tea and an espresso machine and coffee shipped in from a secret location in Leichardt. Cook locally bought produce and seafood and supplement it with anything you can scrounge from our organic vegie garden or pick from our fruit trees. We also provide you with assorted spices and sauces so that you don't have to bring a supermarket full of food for your stay.
You can take a 15 min walk or 2 min drive along our private, wide and safe bush track to secluded and pristine Murrah Beach where you can explore coastal lagoons at either end or walk along the cliffs in adjoining Mimosa Rocks National Park and watch seabirds, whales & dolphins.
Return from the beach for a hot outdoor shower, a sauna, maybe another swim in the pool, throw a line in the lake, read a book, explore our extensive and unique gardens, take our kayak out on the lagoon or visit local wineries, art galleries and restaurants on the coastal food and art trail that runs between Bermagui and Tathra.
After dinner If its cold, light the Jetmaster open fire and cosy up in the lounge enjoying our art collection, or go to bed early and snuggle in to our luxurious linen, stargaze on the sunbeds or just sit and take in the sounds of the bush and ocean as you drink wine by the luminescent indigo lit pool.
Other options would be to take a bath in the outdoor deep Japanese bath - immersed blissfully to your neck in hot water and get out and watch any of the pay TV channels, or instead get active in the small gym or bliss out in the infrared sauna.
This really is a stunning place to holiday - we have always specialised in accommodating one couple for anniversaries, honeymoons, babymoons and other special occasions, but can accommodate up to five couples on request.
We're sorry because of the level of luxury and the many water hazards on this property it is not suitable for children
For your added security, this property is only managed in Australia and we never request payments be made to overseas bank accounts.
Location & Things to Do
The Murrah is a rural and forested haven about 15 minutes south of Bermagui on the Bermagui-Tathra coastal road. It is on the northernmost boundary of Mimosa Rocks National Park which has stunning spotted gum and burrawang forest, numerous untouched beaches and crystal clear lagoons.
Charming old wooden bridges, lush green farmland, beachside drives and winding forested roads all add to its unique unspoiled character and it has been a long time favoured escape for city refugees seeking space in nature for creative arts, rest and healing.
Now with the opening of a few deluxe accommodation options the Murrah has become accessible for holiday stays and a series of new galleries, wineries and restaurants nearby have overlayed the pleasure factor to create a fantastic escape destination.
Nearby Bermagui is a very pretty and undeveloped coastal village with a population of about 2000 people. It's the perfect place for topping up food and holiday supplies and has more than enough restaurants, wine bars and cafes to try out over the space of a week or two. The historic village of Tilba and coastal towns Tathra and Merimbula are easily accessible for day trips.
If you haven't explored this very special part of the wilderness coast you must do so
