Are you renovating your house, building a new home and need somewhere to stay or perhaps you're looking for a sea change? Sand Castle is now taking long term bookings only from February 2018. Instead of locking yourself into a long term contract with a real estate agent you may enjoy the flexibility of the long term accommodation that Sand Castle can offer.
A excellent location just 300m from Bulli Beach, cycle way, children's playgrounds, parks, ocean pools, shops, train station and cafes. Sand Castle offers the best relaxed coastal living within 5 minutes walk. Put away the car and enjoy the superb local area.
Sand Castle is a charming 'Australiana' cottage that has been tastefully renovated.
The light and airy house is character filled with high ceilings, timber floors and lead light. The wide wraparound verandah enjoys serene escarpment views, perfect for an afternoon drink. The modern kitchen boasts freestanding gas cooker and dishwasher. The refreshed bathroom is great for showering off the sand while there is an additional toilet and shower in laundry. There are two double sized bedrooms and a third bedroom all fitted with built-in wardrobes. Keep yourself comfortable with heating and cooling via air conditioning in the master bedroom and for those cool winter nights the combustion fire place. Sand Castle has a north facing rear yard ideal for children with established gardens. We welcome well behaved dogs on request. Your dog will enjoy this location with 24 hour off leash beaches located a short stroll away.

With an inviting village atmosphere, Bulli is enticing with gorgeous beaches, colonial buildings and mining heritage. This northern suburb of Wollongong is popular for picnics, swimming, cycling, surfing and breathtaking views from lookouts on top of the splendid Illawarra Escarpment.
Getting to Bulli is easy. The drive from Sydney is less than 90 minutes and you can take the exhilarating Grand Pacific Driving touring route through the Royal National Park and over the Sea Cliff Bridge, an engineering marvel. A scenic train trip from Sydney’s Central Station is 90 minutes.
Sand Castle is a stone’s throw from the cafés and shops of Bulli and Woonona and a few moments to the beach. You can park the car and forget about traffic. A three minute walk will take you to the blue swells of Bulli Beach or the stunning ocean pool with kids wading pool. Explore the rock pools at low tide and look for crabs with the kids. Take a long lunch at Bulli Beach Cafe, Ruby's Cafe, The Point or North Point Cafe. Spend Sunday morning browsing the very popular Foragers Market where there is fabulous food, live music and great stalls to browse. Woonona Bulli RSL and Bulli Workers Club are both located within easy walking distance.
Woolworths and Beer Wine and Spirits is located a 5 minute walk away taking the hassle out of holiday food shopping.
Offering two double bedrooms one with an air conditioner, both with queen beds that are finished in coastal styling with built-in robes. Bedroom three offers a kids camp out with a set of bunks. A double bunk on the bottom and a single bed on top. This room also has a built in robe.
In the lounge room there is a sofa bed that can sleep two.
There is accommodation for 9 in total configured as two queen beds, one double sofa bed and the kids double bunk on bottom and single bed on top.
Long term accommodation starting in February caters for families and couples only.
The bathroom is cosy but has been tastefully refreshed. It is typical of coastal cottages and is perfect for your holiday needs. For your comfort an additional shower and toilet is located in the laundry.
The lounge room is complete with lounge, DVD, TV while the dining room has a good sized table for your breakfast and dinner needs.
The shaded lawn offers plenty of space for the kids to run around with the dog while you enjoy lunch in the undercover entertaining area complete with BBQ. The sunset view off the deck to the escarpment perfectly complements a glass of wine and cheese platter.

Bulli and Woonona Beach are patrolled September - April
At low tide, spend some time exploring the rock platforms at either end of the beach.
Surfers will love the breaks at Sandon Point, Woonona Point and Bellambi
Enjoy leisurely walks along the beach or the coastal walking/cycling track.
Bring your bike and enjoy a scenic ride along the bike track to Wollongong Harbour. Stop at the Cafes' and parks dotted along the coast line.
Try a surf lesson
Take a bushwalk up into the amazing escarpment and listen to all the bird calls. The Sublime Point walk is extremely popular and well worth the effort.
Feel completely rejuvenated after taking a refreshing dip in the surf or ocean pool.
The ever popular Bulli Foragers Markets has a great vibe, sensational food and live music. It is held every Sunday at the Bulli Showground walking distance
There is public transport available nearby, with a bus stop just down the road and Bulli Train Station is about an 8 minute walk from Sand Castle.
A 20 minute drive 'north' of Bulli, along the Grand Pacific Drive, you can have lunch at the trendy "Scarborough Pub" on your way to the renown "Sea Cliff Bridge" and take in the magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean.
Venture a bit further north to Bald Hill and watch hang-gliders take the plunge, or visit the fascinating "Symbio Wildlife Sanctuary" bring your swimmers too, as there is a pool at the park.
Pack a picnic and drive up through the lovely Royal National Park.
At Austinmer, you will find the newly opened Headlands Hotel where you can have a cold drink and a delicious meal whilst taking in the awesome views up and down the picturesque coastline.
Head into Thirroul to catch a show or band at Anita's Theatre or just enjoy a coffee or a nice meal in the variety of excellent restaurants and cafes. There are some great home ware boutiques, two grocery stores, antique shops, art gallery and a fabulous new playground at Thirroul beach for the kids.
Drive south about 10 minutes and you can visit the beautiful Wollongong Harbour. If you're feeling adventurous try Sky Dive the Beach.
Further south you can spend the day at the Jamberoo Action Park and visit Kiama's Blow Hole.
We welcome well behaved dogs on request maximum of 1 large dog only or 2 small dogs only. Dogs are allowed inside but we do ask that you do not allow them on the furniture and not in any of the bedrooms.
Please bring your own dog bed, blanket, bowls, shampoo and towel etc for your dog. Your dog will need to be clean before they enter the house. A garden hose will be supplied for washing your dog and we ask that you respect this for the comfort of all holiday makers who visit Sand Castle.
It is essential that you clean up after your pet.
The yard is fenced. Please be aware that the front fence/ gate for the driveway is just over a metre in height. You may need to consider this when you leave your dog alone on the property. We do ask that the dog is never left alone in the house at anytime. The wide undercover verandah/ deck is a safe place for your dog. If you wish to leave them inside while you are out you can pop them into the outside laundry.
The 24 hour off leash dog beach is located at McCauleys which is a short stroll along the bike track. Dogs are also permitted on Bulli, Sandon Point and Woonona beaches on leash in the morning and late in the afternoon. Check the signposts located at all beaches for the hours you can use the beach with your dog. The Wollongong Council website also advertises this information.
We are trailing Sand Castle as a dog friendly holiday option for you. So that we can offer this to all our holiday makers we ask for your full co-operation and respect whilst staying with us.
There is no parties or "schoolies" permitted. We are located in a quiet residential area and we love our neighbours. We ask that you keep this in mind when booking Sand Castle. Our holiday makers love coming to Sand Castle because it is quiet and they can relax in the tranquil environment. We ask that you be extremely mindful of the noise you make. No noise after dark as we have families with young children living in the street.
