Stroll along a shady path to the beautiful pure white sands of Callala beach on Jervis Bay where dolphins frolic in the clear water. Relax on the beach while children play in the calm waters. The cottage is set in native gardens which welcomes kookaburras and parrots. Sleep soundly at night listening to the waves gently washing on the beach.
Callala Beach attractions
Apart from the beach itself, there is a children's playground near the general store, tennis courts for hire, and a local golf course complete with grazing kangaroos. You can throw a line in the water, or take out a canoe or kayak. Dine at the local club or pizza restaurant. Callala Beach is great for bike riding as the roads are flat and the traffic quiet. You can cycle to nearby Myola and Callala Bay.
A ferry service operates between nearby Myola and Huskisson. It's a great day trip for a coffee, lunch, movie, dinner or to browse the shops. Ask the ferry operator about booking a relaxing twilight cruise on Currambene Creek.
Callala Beach is on Jervis Bay which is a Marine Park so the marine life is protected and enhances the natural surroundings.
Callala Bay, Myola, Greenwell Point, Huskisson, Nowra
Around the corner from Callala Beach, Callala Bay offers a mini shopping centre, complete with IGA supermarket, bakery, newsagent, butcher, chemist, bottleshop, cafes and DVD hire at the IGA. You can also launch boats from the boat ramp.
Myola is a short drive, cycle, or for a longer excursion, a walk or run along the beach. You can take the ferry from here to Huskisson.
Pick up fresh local fish and chips, lobster, calamari, prawns and oysters at nearby Greenwell Point or Nowra Fresh, on the Princes Highway on your way to Callala. Currarong is a short drive away and offers great fish and chips and beaches.
Huskisson is located across the water from Myola, a 20 minute drive away. Huskisson is replete with gourmet cafes, restaurants and delis, kayak and canoe hire, scuba diving, shops to browse in, more fabulous beaches, and a great kids' playground. Regular dolphin watching cruises are also available. Nearby Vincentia offers an indoor swimming centre with a giant water slide. There is a winding cycle path around the foreshore from Huskisson to Vincentia.
Beyond Vincentia is the Jervis Bay National Park with fabulous walks and beaches.
Nowra offers a wildlife park, naval museum, swimming centre, historic houses, and varied shopping.
Arthur Boyd's Bundanon estate is near Nowra. On the way stop at a local winery to pick up a chilled bottle of wine to accompany your picnic.
On the way to Sydney, Berry is a great place to shop and eat.
