30m to swimming creek, 150m to beach.
Soak up the panoramic views of Congo creek, or listen to the sounds of the surf. Walk to the beach, go for a swim or a canoe, cook up a storm, curl up with a book, or gather around the fire pit at night under the stars.
This light filled modern shack has everything you need, and nothing you do not. The house is configured as two pavilions joined by a covered breezeway, and is built around the large well equipped kitchen and sheltered veranda for gathering with friends and family. A master bedroom (king), bunk room (queen plus four singles), and loft (queen) in the second pavilion provide beds for ten, with space to sleep out on the veranda, or or to pitch tents if required. The bathroom is largely open and connected to the living spaces by a large screened door ... just like camping you will wrap your towel around you as you exit the shower and get changed in your room. In keeping with this vibe, there is no TV to distract you from the beautiful surrounds.
Dogtrot House won the Australian House of the Year (under 200 square meters) and the NSW Architecture Awards for new Residential Architecture in 2014 for its clean modern design, and simple pared back feel. This is not a conventional dwelling and will not suit those looking for a suburban house. If, however, you yearn for a luxurious interpretation of camping, and want to feel connected to nature, Dogtrot may be for you.
Please note: we do not allow pets, and the house is strictly non-smoking.
Congo is a relaxed quiet coastal village in the heart of the Eurobodalla NP, with sheltered swimming in the creek; beautiful natural beaches offering great surf, swimming and fishing; and lovely walks (including the Bingie Dreaming track). Congo is ten minutes from Moruya, with shops and services, and an easy drive from Batemans Bay or Narooma. Dogtrot House is around two and a half hours from Canberra, and around four hours from Sydney.
To make life easy we can supply linen and bath towels for a fee if these are required.
