THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND CULBURRA BEACH
The Cape sits right on Culburra Surf Beach. This beach is great for swimming, surfing and scuba diving. The beach is set between Crookhaven Heads the mouth of the Shoalhaven River and Penguin Head.
Culburra Beach has a collection of handy shops, cafes and businesses including Woolworths just off Prince Edward Avenue.
Culburras surf beach, Warrain Beach, is the closest surf beach to Nowra. This beach is patrolled during the summer holidays and the Nowra Culburra Surf Lifesaving Club sits on the beach.
Wollumboola Lake, which sits to the south of Culburra Beach and is still part of the Jervis Bay National Park, is often filled with water birds. The lake is popular for kayaking, fishing and swimming and is well known for the wonderful oysters which grow in clean, clear waters. The Lake opens occasionally to the ocean and then water levels are high which means its a great place for sailing, windsurfing and waterskiing.
Take a picnic out to nearby Tilbury Cove, Crookhaven Heads or the shores of Lake Wollumboola.
Its an easy drive to nearby villages of Currarong, Callala Bay, Callala Beach, Greenwell Point and Myola all are definitely worth a visit as each has its own individual shops, restaurants, cafes, oyster farms and other delights.
Follow the walking trail from Crookhaven Heads to the Crookhaven Heads Lighthouse, on the south side of the Shoalhaven River. This lighthouse is more than 100 years old and is one of the most endangered lighthouses in NSW.
Visit nearby Historic Jindyandy Mill Village where there is an antique shop, The Butter Factory restaurant, Jindyandy Beauty Retreat, Im in Heaven Lollyshop and Greendales Caf and Restaurant.
